Lincolnshire / Re: Is Bassingham in the 1921 Census ON ANCESTRY?

For a long time Newark RD was a mixture of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

Indeed.
Lots of source material quotes "Bassingham: Notts." and/or "Bassingham: Lincs."

Lincolnshire / Is Bassingham in the 1921 Census ON ANCESTRY?
« on: Saturday 10 May 25 14:14 BST (UK)  »
I only ask because while I can find people listed on FindMyPast I can't find them on Ancestry.
I don't have access to FindMyPast and when I put in anything relating to Bassingham residents in 1921 on Ancestry it just comes up with zero results.

I would greatly appreciate if someone might tell me either what I am doing wrong or - better still - pm me a link to ANYBODY resident in the village ON THE ANCESTRY site.

Cheers in advance,

:)

Thanks again.
I knew that she was at Ingleside; the 1961 Telephone Directory placed her there back then, but I wasn't aware that she had died there.
The exact date is very useful too, thanks.

Wow!
Thank you Alan - greatly appreciated.
I'll add this information.

For anyone who is interested, here is a link to the page that I have created for her...

Thank you most kindly!

C. Danby would have been her father, Charles, and Mrs. Danby would have been her mother, Sarah Ann.

Thanks again. ;)

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Newspaper look-up please: Ivy Annie Danby (1898-1975)
« on: Sunday 03 November 24 11:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am researching Ivy Annie Danby, born Bassingham 15th August 1898, daughter of Charles William Danby and his wife, Sarah Ann (nee Smart); died Dunholme, Lincs. Sep Q 1975.
She is not family; I am just doing it because I recently bought a 1908 postcard addressed to her.

I subscribe to Ancestry and have found her in 1898 (baptism), 1901, 1911, 1939, 1961 (Telephone Directory) and 1975 (death).
But there is one more resource that I cannot access, and it looks most interesting.
Newspapers.com has an entry for her in Wednesday 4th September 1940's issue of the Lincolnshire Echo.

Would it be possible for anyone to please let me know what it says?

Thanks in advance. ;)

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas Stobbart (1861 and 1871 searches, please)
« on: Saturday 05 October 24 19:13 BST (UK)  »
Once again, CiderDrinker - I am indebted to your hard work and kindness.
Thanks for this bit of extra info too.
It's not often that I cuss AŁ, but when I read the wealth of info that others can provide using FindMyPast I do become frustrated.

I'll see what the local libraries have to offer.

Thank you most kindly once again.
I was not aware that Thomas was already widowed when he married Elizabeth Bygate!
I was wondering where the others with him in the 1841 Census were from... :D
I'll add this info later today.

Edit: Thomas married Isabella in Dec not Nov - do you agree?
That's the date that AŁ throws up anyway.

And... dates for the Stobbart/Bygate offsrping: are these births or baptisms, please?

As an aside, can you please tell me which site you use for your research?
I'm on Ancestry and almost all of the stuff posted by you and by JenB doesn't come up on there.
I'm beginning to think that I backed the wrong horse when I signed up to AŁ all those years ago!  >:(
