Hi One Big Family

Yes i do have the marr cert and wondered about the age gap myself!   William's occ was Groom

Yes Norman Conquest is son of James - unfortunately he was killed in WW1

Getting back to William's age - Ive tried every combination I can think of to find his family - his age on marr cert is 22yrs

Has anyone found a William Conquest on their travels? he is proving very elusive! All I know so far is -

born abt1846   (birthplace not known)  father James Conquest
marr  19 Mar 1868  Brighton    2nd husband of Ann Elizabeth Taylor

then the trail goes cold...   but as Ann marries again in 1875   has William died ? divorce ?

No luck with finding his family with James as his father, would like to find him in the census returns.

Any help would be great! ;D

Is it the childrens park on the top of  West Hill, looking towards Plynlimon Road (not sure of the spelling!)
I seem to remember a shelter in the middle from my childhood :-\

Hi peter

Don't know if you are aware but there is a Battle Workhouse in Reading! I made the same mistake -I ordered from the Library service what I thought was a great book about Battle Workhouse, Sussex only to find it was about the workhouse in Reading.

It may give you a lead!
