Merionethshire Lookup Requests / Re: Llanfawr and Gwyddelwern
« on: Tuesday 04 August 09 19:57 BST (UK)  »
Just to add another dimension to the Llanfawr/Llanfor ongoing dialogue, my gg grandmother Winifred Williams [nee Roberts] born there in 1849 was the daughter of William and Hannah Roberts of Llanfor
Last year I literally got in my car and allowed the sat nav. to take me there..... its incredibly small but there appears to be many Roberts living there since the early 1800s so I have found it incredibly difficult to 'trace' my Winifred's birthday cert and other ancestors details

I am very new to this message board and am seeking help please :'(

I know for definite my ggggrandfather was called Henry Burford Jnr [born 1852] who moved via Hagley and Churchill in Worcestershire to Glossop in Derbyshire in the late 1800s.

His father, Henry Snr. of Kidderminster and wife Mary [nee Moore of Monkhopton] also moved to Glossop during the same period and they had married at Kingswinford in 1845-- marriage cert. does state his father being called William Burford ... my dilema is that I simply cannot move this part of my family tree forward because I simply cannot discover whether it was his parents living next door on the Census of 1851 in Churchill, near Kidderminster.

Its not through lack of trying as I have traced Henry Jnr's 'in laws' in Monkhopton back to early 1700's but I simply cannot find Henry Burford Snr birth around 1826 in the Kidderminster area IGI 'records'

Census 1851 Henry Snr & wife are living on Stakenbridge [Lane] Churchill and, next door is a William Burford [of North Piddle] & his wife Mary [nee Grice of Condover] - were these his parents ???

I have now had a block on moving this forward for more than 12mths and can't see where else to look for Henry Snr birth or more details on his parents and family ..

any assistance would be much appreciated --- thanks 8)
