yes it has recently been cleaned up and the Edenderry Historical Socities 'Then and Now' book lists all of those who are buried there. They have another publication coming out hopefully early 2009 which is a complete list of 21 graveyards in the locality, called 'Carved in Stone' and will be a great help for all looking to trace ancestors.

There is a townsland of Ballinakill in the barony of Coolestown, outside the town of Edenderry. There are the ruins of ancient church there and a well preserved graveyard there. Flynn is a popular name in this locality

Hi,

Coraclevin did have its own police station in the 1890s.I have a reference to a Sergent Frank Cronin RIC being transferred there in 1893.

There is a comprehensive book published a few years ago on the Royal Irish Constabluary (RIC) might be sometihing in it that could lead elsewhere.

Hi Shane,

thanks for your reply about land agents and landlords in King's County. I was delighted to hear about your ancestor James Cathcart who worked for Thomas Homan Mullock at Bellair. I was aware of the Bellair estate but had not got a name for the agent or steward, so that solves that mystery!

How did you find information about him working there?

Hoping to hear from you soon,

Offaly (Kings) / King's County landlords/ land agents

Hi I am interested in hearing from anybody that may have connected in their ancestry someone who acted as a landlord, land agent or worked on an estate in King's County (Offaly) during the 19th century. It is for a forthcoming study on landed estates in Offaly. Or indeed any information about estates such as evictions, emigration schemes etc.

Cheers,

Hi LH,

I am trying to find who the land agent was and who the lanldord was, probably the earl of Digby if it is Geashill. Is there any mention of Warburton? or Tarleton?Cheers
