Thank you gentlemen for such a quick responce, with very interesting info. Adrian, I think you are spot on with the medal, we were thinking that the man on the right is the same man in the single photo but younger. If so would that be different regiments?

These photos were found in my wifes G/mothers papers when she died, she was born in Poland in the province of Galicia, which was then part of the Austro/Hungarian Empire. Can anyone spread light on these photos Please.

Hi, Petles
My Paternal grandparents live at Dockhead Bermondsey, Very close to Tower Bridge rd. My grandmother died in 1932 and grandfather died in 1941, we found them to be buried in Nunhead cemetery which is Peckham/New cross area of south London. The people there were very helpful to my brother and found and showed where the grave of grandfather was. The cemetery was opened in 1840,Please see link below. Good luck with your search.

Interesting point Ken, if you look at the first photo in the other post, the men are in khaki tunics.

Thank you Ken for your help, your comment about the mounted infantry is interesting because it as been raised before about the 1st photo. So you have given me some more tips to go on.

   Thanks again Barry.

Thanks Ken, that has given me some very good info, inline with a strong possible line we are trying to follow looking for my g/father in 1900. I have come across a entry on Ancestry in military campaign medals for a Sergt T Mead reg no 385, this could be my G/father Thomas Edward Mead. I did put a topic on here a while back with photos, I do not know how to show it again. I did get a lot of helpful hints to try and solve our problem.

Can anyone help me with information on the 4th Battalion East Surrey regiment around 1900, or where I could find it. Particularly "k" company.

    Thanks
