Hello Thank you for your response in regards to Francis Duffield.  I came across the entries for Francis Duffields children in the Free parish records site. I was wondering what you could tell me about your Emma?  My Susannah Duffield married a Samuel Miles in Norwich and had a William Jacob Miles  which had an Emma Miles which had my father Sydney Chapple.  My Susannah comes up in the Census records as being born in Taverham and I am pretty sure (of course we are never sure are we until we see a record ) that they belong to the same family.  Any info on Emma would be greatly appreciated.  Are you on GenesReunited?  I find it helpful.    Cheers gchapple

Hi  this is George Chapple.  I just sent you a message but I am not sure if it got there.  I think Francis Duffield is also my g g g grandfather but I am not sure.  My gg grandmother Susanna Duffield married a Samuel Miles in Norwich and in the census it said she was born in Taverham.  I have came across some of the Duffield being born there with similar names especially Emma which my Susannah also name a child of hers.  That name has went down the line and I have now a 4 year old by that name.  I wondered in if you have come across Susannah at all.  I cant find her getting baptised.  She would have been born somewhere around 1797 to 1800.  I look forward to hear from you.   Cheers George Chapple

Hi just wanted to post something about Folgates and Falgates.  My g g grandfather was a William Folgate or Falgate or whatever the spelling and he lived in the Moulton St. Michael area near Forncett where there is a lot of Folgates.  I have been having a hard time finding out if he is the right one.  Does anyone know a William Folgate which lived in that area in 1841 that was a shoemaker?  There is 33 William Folgate Falgates etc living in the 1841 census.
Sincerely G Chapple

Hello everyone I am new on this site and I hope I am doing this right.  I wondered if anyone could help me find some stuff.  I have  an  ancestor which was in the pulham workhouse in the 1840 time frame.  I think all of the family had been in there at one time or another.  The last name is Chapple, Chappell, Chapell etc  depending on who wrote it.  I just wondered if anyone has any records of the workhouse that would help me put a life around these Chapples?  Thankyou very much.
Sincerely  G

Hi Keith my g g grandmother was susanna duffield miles born around 1798 or whatever.  My g grandfather william Jacob Miles was born in 1830 and my grandmother was emma miles born in 1881.  My father was born in 1910 and I am in my early 40s so it shows how old my father was when I was born.  I my self am a lot older than my wife and we have 4 children 6 years and younger.  Pretty crazy huh?  Everybody thinks I am younger but its not due to my hairline. Ha ha!  Are you on GenesReunited?  I am .   Great site and cheap only about 19 canadian dollars a year and I have found a phenomenal number of relatives and have broken down some pretty major walls that otherwise I would not have found no matter how many bmds I had went through.  Hope to hear from you soon.  P.s do you know the history of the Duffield name or any interesting stuff like that?
sincerely Geo

Hi Keith thanks for the quick reply.  These names are very interesting that you sent me.  Susanna in the 1841 census have a couple of children.  Susan 14, Samuel12 which would be named after his father, William 10 which would be my great grandfather and Emma 8 years.  You can see the similarity of  the names.  In the 1851 census it shows samuel 22, william 21 and emma 18 years.  Now in the 1861 census it shows a daughter written down as Mary ann either 28 or 38.  A lot of familiar names.  But something I just noticed when I looked up the 1841 census is that a William Duffield was a millwright 31 years old married to an Elizabeth  with children william 10, Maria 4 and John 4 living just a couple places down and on the same census page!  This William Duffield would not be the right age but seems to be quite concidental.  Do you think that this Susanna belongs to Francis and Susannas family?
sincerely Geo

Hi  I just joined up and I read an inquiry about the Duffields in Taverham.  My great great grandmother was a Duffield from there.  In the 1841 census she shows up as a Susanna Miles shopkeeper in Norwich but born in Taverham.  She was born Susanna Duffield and in the 1841 census would have been about 41 or so.  According to her death certificate she was 80 years old when she died in 1878.  She couldnt write so you have to take that with a grain of salt.  Susanna Duffield married Samuel Miles a cordwainer or shoemaker on Nov 18th 1819 in Norwich at St. Saviours church.  I hope this is helpful and I would be very interested in knowing anything about the Duffields of Taverham.
