Scotland / Occupation - Road undertaker
« on: Sunday 12 September 21 09:25 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone suggest what a Road Undertaker as an occupation would be. Is it much the same as a Road Labourer. This is for a ancestor I have on 1841 Scottish census. Thanks.

Thanks Pauline, I'll have look there. Strange though, a few years back i ordered at different times p2 or 3 pre 1900 marriages & thought I had entered the data, found the couple & ordered hard copies. Thanks very much.

I would be grateful if someone with access to the Conisbrough marriage register could look up Thomas Watson & Jane Firth married 1st December 1823. I'm not too hopefull whether the record mentions much else, but specifically if it suggests the occupation for the man & if they are recorded as widow/er. Thanks.

East Lothian (Haddingtonshire) / Which James Duncan & Agnes Crookston?
« on: Thursday 27 June 19 09:02 BST (UK)  »
A general line of research suggests James Duncan born 4 Nov 1773 in Newbattle & his wife Agnes Crookston born 10 July 1774 in Gladsmuir, but with no marriage that can be found. This James is suggested as son of James Duncan & Christian Ferguson & Agnes as daughter of James Crookston & Agnes Hogg. There is another line of research suggesting James Duncan born 31 Aug 1784 & bap 5 Nov same year in Gladsmuir to John Duncan coallier & his wife Helen Farmer, abode Old Kirk, witnesses are Robert Farmer & George Duncan. John & Helen both of Gladsmuir were irregularly married in Edinburgh 30 Jan 1774. In this research it is suggested that Agnes(s) Crookston born 6 & bap 7 Oct 1781 to George Crookston coallier & his wife Cathirine Hastie, abode Old Kirk, witnesses James & William Crookston coalliers at Old Kirk, is this James Duncan's wife, ofcourse no marriage. George Crookston & Katherine Hastie both of Gladsmuir were married irregularly in Edinburgh 26 Jan 1778. The research for this James Duncan & Agnes Crookston only show the following offspring: Catharine Duncan born 7 Nov 1805 Gladsmuir, Helen Duncan born 4 Dec 1807 Cranston, Midlothian & John Duncan 22 Oct 1809 in Crichton, Midlothian. The 3 other children James, Christian & Grizel can't be located. I realize that records back to this time are slender, but perhaps someone have more input about this couple. Thanks

Thanks, sounds the best idea. What I'm really getting at is the best way of adding citing a SP register, being that FTB has a book layout for it's source. Hard to explain this. In the Source Edit ithas the following. Don't know why anything would be added at text below. The actual citation page is where you add the particulars of the source.
Title
Abbreviation
Author
Agency
Text
Repository
Call Number
How would you cite SP register on a book format?
