Still no apparent link Colin. Your CHILD was an Architect; most of my 19c CHILDS worked at the Wax Candle Factory in Teddington!

Don't think so Colin. The family were in Ireland for only a short time around the birth of Ronald. My CHILDS have their roots in Teddington Middlesex.  Chris
PS Since posting I have managed to obtain a copy of Ronald's birth certificate from a very helpful chap in The Superintendent Registrar's Office, Mullingar. Ronald was in fact born in 1929, four years later than stated on his death certificate.

My grandfather, William James CHILDS, was personal butler to an Admiral TOTTENHAM c 1920 and spent some time with him at Rochfort. The house I understand is no longer standing but was near to Belvedere. Anyone with any information, however small?

Since posting the above I have discovered from his death certificate that Dad's younger brother Ronald William CHILDS was born in Ireland on 7 Sep 1925, which must have been shortly before the family returned to England.
I have no other details other than the date of birth but would like to apply for a copy Birth Certificate from the Civil Reg. Office. Is there an on-line searchable index?

Hi Scatty ~ many thanks for the prompt reply. I did think it would be a needle in a haystack job. I have looked on my UK1881CD but no obvious entry. The only other thought is perhaps father Frank started life as Francis. Also there is also a possible sister to Henry called Flo (Florence/Flora?). When my parents married in 1941 there was an Aunt Flo living with 'Grannie Leigh' (Henry's widow Annie).  Annie Bartlett didn't have a sister with that name so it does look as if Aunt Flo may have LEIGH connections.
Thank you again for looking for me. Best regards  Chris

Hi Scatty ~ I would like to take you up on your kind offer:-
My gt grandfather Henry Harry LEIGH married in Battersea, London 10 Jul 1892 then aged 27.(b.circa 1865). In 1901 census he gives his place of birth as Jersey. On the marriage cert Father's name is Frank LEIGH Ships Steward. Helpful occupation for locating census entries!
Only other info is the certificate was first issued as LEE, but amended in 1898 to LEIGH.
Not much to go on, but any help would be much appreciated.  Kind regards   Chris
