If anyone has access to the Irish birth index, could you please tell me if there is any Francis Patrick Davis or Patrick Francis Davis born in 1875?

I'm hoping to find out what part of Ireland my Davis family came from.

I think I found your ancestor, Deirdre

John Joseph Foley born 13 July 1868 Louth, Ireland, Parents John Foley and Bridget Ellis. Doesn't say exactly where in Louth he was born in the index, but there is a Teresa Foley born in 1865 in Ardee, Louth to John Foley and Bridget Ellis. It looks as though your ancestor may have been from Ardee, Louth.

That's interesting that the page is unreadable. She is on the 1851 Barnsley census index, so I assume there must be a readable version of the census film somewhere.

Which company made the cd that you are using? Was it British Data Archive?

Hi Amanda,

There is no centralised recording of vital records in the US. It's a matter left entirely to the 50 different states. To find a BMD you have to look to the records of the state in which the event took place.

Do you know which state the death occured in?

She should be living with at least her mother, who's name I don't know and am hoping to learn from the census. Her father, William Harrison, was deceased by the time of her marriage in 1873. So may very well have been dead by the time of the 1871 census.

I believe ancestry allows you to narrow searches by name and birthplaces. And I know that Sarah was in Yorkshire in 1871, but not in Barnsley. Is there any Sarah A. Harrison born in Barnsley, Yorkshire around 1854, but not living in Barnsley in 1871 that you can find?
