Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Theophilus Whittaker

Thank you so much for your response to this - I didn't know that Familysearch have the "beta" site up and running - last time I tried I couldn't get in using Safari, but could with Firefox - now it seems both work, and as Great Budworth records seem to be well covered, I won't have to bother you again! Thanks once again.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Theophilus Whittaker
« on: Monday 10 May 10 18:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi - I would be very grateful if anyone with access to Great Budworth records could check a BMD for me.

IGI has Mary Dickens marrying Theophilus Whittaker on 3 Nov 1829 in Great Budowrth. It would be really amazing if the marriage record has useful things like abode and occupation in it..... ::)

Now Theophilus, who may well have been a waterman, dies before 1835 - I can not find any record of his death though, and wonder if that is also Great Budworth. (In 1835, Mary Dickens-Whittaker remarries - to Thomas Dutton, in Liverpool.)

On Ancestry, the following Whittaker records came up for baptisms in Great Budworth: William 9/11/1794, Thomas 16/9/1798 and Sarah, 12/7/1801. All of these are children of a Theophilus Whittaker. I do not think this is the same Theo. who married Mary, but it could be his father. Any info. appreciated.

Thank you very much, Lesley

Thank you very much for looking Jean. I'll see if I can find a marriage in Warrington, but I don't have much hope! Thank you for the info re the baptism of Mary Dickens, though.

Hi - I'm searching for information (Birth, marriage and death)  possibly in Runcorn or Great Budworth parish of a Mary Dickens and Thomas Dutton ( really uncommon name.;..) Mary Dickens is quite easy as she survived into the 1890s, but I am unable to trace which Thomas Dutton she married, or where he came from. Mary came from Little Leigh and there is an IGI record that could be her, born around 1809. The marriage to Thomas probably took place around 1830 because on the 1841 census, Mary was a widow with two children - William aged 10 and Elizabeth aged about 6. (The children's names could also be clues to the parentage of Thomas Dutton) They were living in Runcorn and continued to do so for many years, which makes Runcorn the The most likely location for his death . However, I suspect they may have migrated there following a marriage in Great Budworth parish. I would be very grateful if someone could check the relevant records. Thanks a lot, Lala
