I'm new to www.rootschat.com.

How do I make contact with a User 'SeanC3'. In 2008 he was on this site enquiring about an ancester of his William Lewis who I'm trying to find out about now. It seems he last logged into the site in June 2011.

Enda.

Dear, oh dear.....not since June 2011, eh? More's the shame  :-\

Anyhow, that's me!  ;)

Just dropped you a PM reply.

Westmeath / Dunne burial at Coralstown mean anything?
« on: Tuesday 20 January 09 01:08 GMT (UK)  »
This is a long shot but here goes. My great grandmother - a Roseanne Coghlan, nee Dunne - died in 1925 & was buried in Coralstown cemetery, Kinnegad. Her husband was later interred with her there. Doing the maths based on headstone detail (could be dodgy, I know), she would've been born in 1883.

I've very little more to go on at the mo, so here's hoping this might ring some bells with someone doin' research out there.

Good luck y'all.....

Sean.

Dublin / Re: Clontarf

Just wondering if anyone has a copy of a map of Clontarf from around the time of the cencus in 1911 (in particular Clontarf Road surrounding the yacht club)?
This isn't a direct search for family, more an interest in the place I lived as a child. Reason I ask is that there was no Clontarf Road in 1911 according to the "Townlands/Streets" breakdown on the National Archives. Anyone know when that occurred?

Cheers  :)

Westmeath / Re: Dunne family of Westmeath

The fact I have zero info (in terms of firm dates) apart from the death cert & burial plot of Roseanne sorta made me reluctant to throw it up on the board in it's own right, but guess you're right Nipy. A shot in the dark but you never know, eh?  :)

Dunne is her maiden name by the way. Married a Joseph Coghlan. I'm guessing she's Westmeath stock as she died first and hence would have no particular reason to be buried in Westmeath other than the fact that she originated there.

Cheers for the reply Nipy.

Just chipping in with this based on the subject heading but if it rings any bells with you Helen - or anyone for that matter - I'd appreciate if you'd be good enough to wave in my direction!  :)

I have a Roseanne Dunne in my tree who died in Nov. 1925 & is buried in Coralstown Cemetery, Kinnegad (where this is in relation to Milltown I've no idea TBH). According to information at time of death she was born in 1883.

I'm just thinking that she may have been buried in her home county, hence making her a Dunne of Westmeath. Hoping this may mean something to someone.

Wicklow / Re: Halpin family of Wicklow - Link
« on: Friday 20 June 08 01:33 BST (UK)  »
I discovered recently ( and much to my surprise  :o ) that I have a Halpin in my family tree - my gg grandmother - who I thought originated in Kildare/Westmeath, but turns out to have come from Wicklow (have this on good authority from a great-uncle). Catherine Halpin b 1853 (working back from the age shown on her headstone).

Just throwing this info out there in the hope it may mean somethin' to someone. I know the Wicklow Family History Centre provides a search service, but TBH a 30 euro charge for a single record search is a fair hit when all I have is her name & year of birth which may or may not be accurate. I keep checking Irish-roots.net but the online search facility for Wicklow is under the counties "Coming Soon".

Cheers,

Sean.

Hello Sean,

There's a page on "Printed material relating to Sinn Féin propaganda, 1915-1920"
(submitted by Joanne Stewart, B.A., P.G.C.E., September 1998) on the Queen's University, Belfast, School of Modern History site which mentions that "The offices of Cumann Na mBan were situated at 6, Harcourt Street, Dublin, the same building to which the National Council of Sinn Féin was relocated. A pamphlet entitled "The present duty of Irishwomen" listed the Dublin and country members of the movement."[/i]

Several Cumann na mBan items are shown on the "Memorabilia from The 1916 Easter Rising, its Prelude and Aftermath" website.  www.theeasterrising.eu/150CumannNamBan/CumannnamBan.htm

Christopher

Thanks Christopher. My gran was listed as a member of the HQ branch, so those links could come in handy.

Cheers,
