Yes thank you, I have traced my William Cumpstey back quite a ways.    Your William age 9 is probably of the line of:
William b. c1741 Pilling m. Ellen Hesketh
s. John Latus Cumpstey b. 1777 Dinckley m. Betty Eastman
s. John Latus Cumpstey b. 1798 Dinkley m Jane Ormerod
s. John Latus Cumpstey b. 1826 Salesbury
 
My William is a distant cousin through Newsham Cumpstey b. 1769 Dinckley m. Alice Hanson.

Claire, thanks for getting back to me.  I know very little about the 3 Hill's that went to NZ.  The story goes like this:  When my g gr.father died at age 53, my grandmother was in attendance, and the only regret that her father had was that his 3 siblings left for NZ and were never heard from again and he wished he knew what happened to them.  Now that alone could suggest that they never even made it.  My grandmother was never really forth coming when it came to genealogy, when one of her daughters was making a trip back to Ireland and wanted family information, my grandmother replied "Leave it alone, all you'll find is a bunch of horse thieves!" Well, lo and behold that is what I did find on the Hume side.  They were Scottish boarder reivers :o Thanks for your offer to look for them, but with so little sketchy information, I believe it is hopeless. ~ Judy

Thank-you so much for giving the marriage a try, I really appreciate it.  I have fond memories of this couple.  Actually they were my mother's Aunt & Uncle, but because my real grandfather died before my mother was born, my "Uncle Bill (his brother) & Aunt Heddy (Musette) stepped into the role as "parent/grandparent". I am looking for a a birthdate for George Hill b.1852 Mullaghbawn, Duneane.  His father is Robert Hill.  George Married Sarah Jane Hume 26 June 1878 @ 2nd Randalston Presby. Church.  George died 5 June 1905 at Ballyarnott, Muckamore Grange.    I am looking for his mother's name, the exact date of birth, and any information on his father.  George had 2 farms at the time of his death.  Besides the home farm and Stone Quarry at Muckamore, he had a farm in Tirgracey that I think was inherited from his father.  I hope someone can help me find this elusive family.  Thanks, Judy

Hello Claire,  I have been researching the elusive Antrim Hill family for many years.  I do have a William Hill b. 1843 who immigrated to NZ some time before 1900 with a sister Mary and brother Isaac.  My G Gr. father was the youngest brother George b. 1852.  There were also 2 older brothers James & Robert.  Their father was Robert Hill, mother unknown, but it was the 2nd marriage for Robert.  No children from the 1st. Robert Sr. was destined for the Anglican church, but became a Farmer instead.  If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me. ~ Judy

Wow that's wild!  So the Henry age 72 living with them in 1891 must be Alice's father, as John's father is William Day.  Thank-you so much for going the extra mile.  I don't want to impose, but I seem to be on a roll here and don't want to let it slip away.  Is there any way to find a marriage for Musette and William Cumpstey(b. 1890 Blackburn),  between 1911 when they would have been of full age and 1917 when they show up in the US as married?

I live in the US and am confused as to how to locate a relative on the 1891 census.  I am looking for MUSETTE DAY, she was born 26 Feb 1890 but it is listed as:  Lancashire, Yorkshire - West Riding. Can someone help me locate this family? She married a William Cumpstey, but I haven't found out if it was in England or US.  They were in Meriden CT USA in 1917, but I can't find a marriage in either country.
