 Hello Willow,

Thanks for your help....

I checked out the lead you gave me but found that  unfortunatley there was an Eliza Thomason b Bilston 1880 Father John, Mother Harriet living at 36, Dudley Street St Lukes, Bilston  - So that must be her marriage.

Thankyou for trying anyway. I reckon the husband must have died WW1 which is why my grandfather wouldn't really remember him

 Hiya,

My grandfather has written on the back " Aunt Eliza and Family" but no date. It shows a young woman with a soldier  in ww1 uniform with 4 children. I would estimate approx 7,5,3 and 1 years old -  possibly slightly older but not by much.

My grandfather's dad was Eliza's older brother. His name was William Henry thompson and my grandad born1907 was William Edward.

The last reference I have for Eliza  is RG12/ 2278 F79 P29 S167  and as I said the address is 6 Cook Street,Wednesbury

Devon / Caledonia Hotel. Plymouth

Hi All,

Does anyone have any information about the Caledonia Hotel in Plymouth at the turn of the century.

I found a photocopy of a photo in my grandfathers papers. I know the Palmer family bought it and lived there and that it overlooked the harbour. I can't get the photo to upload as it keeps telling me the file is too big but I would be grateful for any help.

I am looking for a Marriage  for william Burton and Ann Price in about 1818.

First daughter found is Sarah Burton b 1819 Stourport Worcs who was found on the 1851 Gloucester census when she luckily visited them.

We figure that they left the Stourport area in about 1820 -21 as the second child found,Ann was born in Gloucester 1822.

Can't find any record of a marriage although a later childs birth certificate says Ann Burton formally Price.

Can anyone help Please...

Hi Guys,

Feel free to hijack. always ready for a gossip! Thanks for the help.

I have Elijah down in 1865 as a jobbing Labourer address Half street  St mary de lode Glouceser.  so I started there. I only have Emma's birth certificate so far. I went back to the pub from 1861  and found Mr Organ still there but with a whole new staff.

Kate married William Bowers Card in Steyning, Sussex in 1891 and Emma married William Blackwell in Gloucester 1884 dec qtr. Both stay in those areas to 1901 and beyond but I have no idea how Kate got to Sussex. I haven't got the marriage certificates for them.

I can't find any marriage for Elijah let alone the one to Emma but Hey Presto they all pop up in Gloucestershire again in 1881. Where could they be? Emma Burtons Dad William  was a boat builder could they be on the canals?

I'm glad its not just me that can't find them. I thought I was just not seeing them.
