Lancashire / Re: James Francis Healey - Anfield
« on: Tuesday 27 October 20 17:43 GMT (UK)  »
So solid information I have is the "England & Scotland, Select Cemetery Registers, 1800-2016" (on ancestry.co.uk) lists James (my great grandfather) as in a private grave in Anfield as listed above.

I have contacted enquires@friendsofanfield.com and they are willing to do a search for a small fee which I have agreed to.

I have also listed James as a memorial on FindAGrave as previously suggested here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/217719210/james-francis-healey

Hopefully not as described by lancsann, but will see. Never know if I don't check

Best regards
Rich

I have applied to the Cheshire Archives for a search for Augustus' patient record at Deva Hospital, Chester (per earlier advice)

Outstanding question to find him in the 1891 census (still searching). He was born in 1883

My sister in law aged 70 - is a Turner from Seacombe - she has asked me to ask you if Joseph Turner who married Doris Simmons in 1948 is any connection - ? her parents
thanks

No connection that I am aware of garstonite, apologies for my tardy reply  :)

Also trying to find this gentleman in the 1891 census, with no luck. Can anyone help?

Have him in 1901 living in Garstang with the Swarbrick family. Also with his sister Georgina who was born in Buenos Aires in 1891 (and is listed as a visitor from South America)

He is also in the 1911 census in 1911 living with wife Florence Gertrude Houghton (before she died) and children - in Poulton with Seacombe

I don't believe he went to Argentina with his parents (at a guess in his status in 1901) and lived with others. He is not listed as living with the Swarbrick's in 1891

That’s fab - thanks all. Any ideas on how I would access his personal file from the Deva hospital if possible?

I have the 1954 death certificate (thought it worth a shot), but the details do not match up (missing middle name, rather distinctive) and age is a few years out (this individual was a few years older). So I had ticked this one off as a no go  ???

Although thinking about it, the newspaper report cuts off his middle name and also gets his age wrong (1921 minus 38 is 1883). The death certificate (1954 minus 69 is 1885), so possible

Death certificate records him as casual labourer, passing away at [Leva?] Hospital, Liverpool Road, Upton by Chester. Not sure where that is exactly (sub-district Chester Castle?)

The fact that I can't find him in the 1939 War Register concerns me however, and makes me question it

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Seacombe (7 Stanley Street) - Augustus DeHilgreave Turner
« on: Wednesday 17 April 19 22:04 BST (UK)  »
Augustus DeHillgreave Turner
Born 4 August 1883 Birkenhead, Cheshire
Married 22 November 1908 Seacombe, Cheshire (Florence Gertrude Houghton)
Death: unknown

Wife died as a young mother on 17 December 1917 (age 29). Two children (Sidney & George) sent to Canada (Barnados), two (Leonard & Harry) remained in the UK (Harry "Houghton" an adopted son)

My question that I need some help with: when did Augustus pass away, where and under what circumstances. This is my great grandmother's brother (her name was Georgina Florence Turner). Any help appreciated, have not been able trace him after 1921 (including in the 1939 War Register)

Recent newspaper report found: 26 January 1921 - Liverpool Echo

"TOOK JEYE'S FLUID - At Wallasey to-day, Augustus Turner (38), of Stanley-street, Seacombe, was charged on remand with having attempted to commit suicide by taking Jeyes' fluid. He was an epileptic and had been depressed through losing his wife and through being out of work. On promising not to make another attempt on his life the accused was discharged"

Suspicion is he did make another attempt or ended up in a workhouse. His kids never re-united with with him we believe. He did serve in WW1, but came out early due to epilepsy and war trauma

Thanks
Rich
