Engineer is still a very misused term.
The records of the Institute of Civil Engineers and Institute of Mechanical Engineers up to 1930 are on Ancestry.

11 houses in the road were labeled as apartments including 25 & 31.

In the 1910 London Directory on Historical Directories the listing for Balcombe street, shows the odd numbers on the east side. Dorset square is between 15 & 19 & Upper Park Place between 43 & 49. The occupant of No 29 is not listed. 21 was the Portsman Arms.

I find this information the the directories very useful to determine where streets were and the numbers within them.

Hi Peter

The West Surrey FHS publish Cliff Webb's Research Aid, which lists all City streets and the parish & ward they are in. It's primary source was the City of London Directory of 1871.
So City Directories may be a good starting point.

If you mean the City of London Cemetery & Crematorium in Little Ilford, I am not aware of any index of burials but the registers from 1856 - 1867 can be viewed online, Details of thier registers and link to the images here:
