Hi If any one is going to either of the above, is it possible for a marriage lookup.
It is for the marriage of Joseph Belsey & Mary Hicks, I have the Banns of Marriage which are confusing they are for the 14th, 21, 28th July 1782 in the parish of St. Lawrence Hougham.  Also found a  document with just one line on it saying Joseph Belsey married Mary Hicks on the 13th July 1782 in the parish of St. Augustines, East Langdon.   Seem strange they were actually married before the Banns were read.   If some one could view the St. Lawrence Hougham marriages and also the St. Augustines, East Langdon marriages between the years of 1779 and 1782 (I have now found a birth of a child  Sarah Belsey in 1779 in St. Margarets, Cliffe,  daughter of Joseph Belsey and Mary Hicks or Hickes, which is not very clear on the online record)  so did they have an illegitimate child before the marriage or were they in fact married before 1782.  Sorry if this confusing if anyone can help and needs more information and too see the documents I have you can send a PM and I can contact you by e mail.
Thank you in advance   Sheila.

Thanks for that, not sure if this could be him.

In the meantime i have found a death on the BDM nsw.gov site , it is for a Richard G. Goldsmith died 1858,  this could be him so have ordered the death certificate to see if it has more information, fingers crossed, will take at least 2 weeks for this to arrive.

I will let you know if this is the right Richard Goldsmith, so in the meantime thanks for you help.

Sheila.

Hi Debra

Thanks for looking for Richard for me, his father was a mariner, but from the last message you sent you have proved this is not him.

Thanks very much for that, back to the drawing board.

I have just had some information sent me from another source about a Richard Sydney Goldsmith, not sure  about the middle name but could possibly be him.

Found in the Australian Cemetary Index 1808 - 2007 age 24  birth around 1830, which fits, and that he died on  the  13 August 1854 / cemetary Hobart St. Davids Anglican, Tasmania.

So i am assuming if this his him that after his Conditional Pardon on the 21 January 1854 he moved on to Hobart, Tasmania and unfortunately died 8 months later.

I have tried to find this information but have been unable to do so,can any one help in confirming this and finding out more information about this death.

Thank you once again.
Sheila.

Thanks

Hi All

Can anyone help me track down what became of Richard Goldsmith.

He was born in 1832 in Ramsgate to Edward Goldsmith and Mary Jarman at the age of 12 he was imprisoned for 6months and whipped for larcency and not learning his lesson again in 1848 at the age of 17 he was put on on trail for larcency on the 30 March 1948 and was given 7 years transportation.
He was onboard the  Minden on the 21st July 1851 and arrived in Western Australia on the 14th October 1851.

I can not find out what became of him, whether he served his sentence, married and stayed in Australia or came back to England, i have looked for him but cannot find any trace.

So perhaps someone with a bit more knowlege than me could possibly find what became of him.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me

Sheila.  ???

Hi,  Your Charles Goldsmith who married Maria Freeman is the brother to my great x 2 grandfather Richard Goldsmith 1802 - 1867, so that is my link and their father was Edward Goldsmith born cc1762  My great x 3 grandfather) who i still cant find his death or burial date.

As you probably realise the Goldsmith family is very large, so i have not yet had a lot of time to reseach your Charles (my 2nd great uncle)  but i have seen some information about the family, and have as yet not had time to research it properly.

Maria Ann as you say went to Australia and married Jabez Janes, and they had 7 children, i cannot possibly put all my information i have on the goldsmiths on this message, so if you would like to  send a pm with your e mail address i can send you some attachments.

I go on holiday on Sunday for a week so will not be around next week.

Best Wishes

Sheila.

Hi Casaguilda

Have been to relook at Parish Burial records for Edward Goldsmith, the only one close was 30th July 1805 St. Lawrence, which said he died suddenly, and his last child was born in 1804 so a possibility,  but this would make his birth 1752 not 1762.  I have looked at the births for 1752 and have come across one for a Edward Goldsmith bap 11th June 1752 at St. Johns in Margate, which is close to Ramsgate, so this could have been him.
I have his marriage date of 3rd April 1783 to Sarah Wood but there is no age, so cant double check his age with that.
If i contacted the church of St. Lawrence do you think they would have more details about his marriage and what age he was when he married to try and find out his birth year.

Back to the drawing board.
