HI

I have found a document on Findmypast which is declaration from the said John Dennis, along the lines.....

" I John Dennis of Queen Street, Devonport, .....Rigger in her Majesty's Dock Yard here do solemnly and sincerely declare that I cannnot procure a certificate of my baptism or Register of my birth and that I have neither father or mother living, but that from what I have always heard, understood and believed I was born at St Columb in the County of Cornwall on or about the fifteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and twenty six and that I shall not attain my age....."

This was signed 1/5/1860 - which i would guess would be the prerequisite to him marrying Mary Elliott.

Hi

I've just come across this family as I'm researching on behalf of friends who are descended from Elizabeth Ann Stone (1834).

I had found the other 3 children (including George, who died), but I wondered if you'd managed to discover anything further.

Elizabeth first married James Wright and then Charles Sneezem.

Thanks

Stephanie

Hi

I have just come across your query about Glynperfedd and the "Morgan" family.

Assuming I've got it right, this was one of the most awkward bits of patronymic/surname mixing I've come across.

E-mail me directly on * and I'll see if I can help you out if you haven't yet got there yourself.

best wishes

Stephanie

Hi

I have just come across tis thread and have also got as far as discovering that the Misses Hazlehurst were the nieces of an Edward Knight of Milton Ernest.

However, I can't find anything more about them as yet.

I can tho' help with the Donne family.

Dinah and Martha married 2 siblings - sons of Matthew Donne (or Dunn)
and Ann Bowen. They were from the Llandow area of Glamorgan and Matthew senior was a schoolmaster in Cowbridge.
There also seem to be links with St Donats.

John William Donne (Mary's husband) was a second cousin of the brothers and they settled in the Morriston area of Swansea (one son was John KNIGHT Dunn; another Jasper Haslehurst Dunn).

Hope this is helpful

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: RIDGWAY - Lookup request marriage, death, anything!

Hi

Don't know if you've got anywhere with Sam's siblings - thought I'd offer what I've found in the past - you should probably check it tho' - as it's all quite distant for me!

Elizabeth (1838) married Henry Vickery in 1854 - I've found 7 kids, many born in Spaxton. THink she died in Bridgwater aged 47 in 1881.

John married Ann Bartholomew, had 5 kids in and around Bridgwater.

William married Jane ?, died 1879 Bridgwater with 4 kids.

Sarah Ann (1847) - there are a few possible marriages, but haven't been able to find her under a married name.

Hope that gives you some foof for thought.

Best wishes

Just found this conversation - hello everyone!

I had Oliver in my tree already - tho' knew nothing about what a fascinsating life he seems to have led!

Anyway, just to introduce myself.I am descended from Samuel's uncle Thomas Ridgway (1806 - 1872).

Sam's dad was William (1815 - ?) and he and brother Thomas were 2 of 10 kids born to Jacob Ridgway and Jane Bray.

I have a vast Ridg(e)way tree which seems to originate in north Devon and meanders into Somerset and into South Wales.

Am happy to share info if you'd like.

Anyway - good luck with your hunt.

Best wishes
