Thank you Monica! while the other thread was very interesting to read, it was getting very difficult to find anything without a lot of time spent!

I am wondering, if while Lodger has his book out, if he could tell me if there are any other Amos burials other than Jessie Bertram Amos (d. 1915).

I was so lucky in September when we arrived at the cemetery on, yes, a bank holiday, that there was another researcher with small notebook in hand who actually knew where section E was. We found the spot where Jessie was buried, but sadly, no headstone. Just what might have been the remnants of one.

It would be interesting to find out if there were any other family members buried at the cemetery.

Thanks in advance!

Do any of you have Jessie Craig Bertram in your files?  She was the daughter of Robert Bertram and Allison Cockburn Bertram. She was born February 24, 1885 in Ormiston; married David Thomson Amos on the 22nd of June, 1906 at Pardovan in Cranstoun.

A way back in 2008, post #28 / 29, I was given some very valuable information on my Grandfather's first wife's burial. It seems that the family in Scotland have not been to the cemetery to locate the grave but I am on my way over in September.

I am wondering if there are any other Amos buried there (so as not to miss them this trip, if there are any) and also if there is a way to find out where Section E is, if I happen to be so unlucky to arrive at the cemetery when the groundskeepers are not there.  I will make every attempt to get there during regular hours but last trip over I happened to hit it on the Friday of a bank holiday weekend and it seemed everyone was taking off early!   :(

Thanks Carol. Not to worry, I asked my question on a Lanarkshire list and received the answer almost immediately. Amazing service!

Thanks Carol.  When I was searching around for a board to ask my question, I thought I was joining a Scotland board.......oops! That's all the information I have about this lady and yes, all the places are in Scotland. I will go and see if I can find a board more specific to Scotland and in particular Lanarkshire. Don't worry about spending more time on this question, I'm sure there will be somewhere that everyone is more familiar with this area of the country.

How I wish that I had known about this CD when I was last in Lanarkshire (I live near Vancouver, BC).  The task of trying to find a grave in the Cambusnethan Cemetery was quite daunting, having only information of when the death occurred and trying to find graves from a similar time frame...without any success.

I am looking for burial information for Jessie Craig Bertram Amos who died on August 30,1915 in Chapel, Lanarkshire.  I assume that her burial would have taken place at the Cambusnethan Cemetery as it seems to be the closest one to Chapel & Morningside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am wondering if someone died in Chapel in 1915 where are they likely to have been buried. It looks to me like perhaps the cemetery in Wishaw might have been the closest one.  If so, where would I find the records for that cemetery and the burial I am hoping to find?

Jessie Craig Bertram Amos died at home at 10 Mitchell Place, Chapel, Lanarkshire, on August 30, 1915 leaving a newborn infant and three small children. Her husband David Amos was away at war.

Thanks for your time!
