The Common Room / Re: Ancestry... Easter weekend
« on: Friday 25 March 16 14:32 GMT (UK)  »
That is a nice Easter treat, does Ancestry have up to date electoral registers as do FindMyPast?

I don't think so, but they have older electoral registers from London (up to 1965 I think), Surrey, West Midlands, West Yorkshire.... and probably some other areas I've forgotten!

Thank you for that info, I was looking for someone outside of London, 2003

Haven't looked at census information online, in fact a very long time, and I am sure there was the census government site

Prob - http://www.1901censusonline.com/ - which now gets passed thru to FindMyPast ....

That looks like what has happened, it is now passed to Findmypast.  This is a shame as it was a useful tool to find out other members of the household first.   Groom, thank you, I tried the link you gave, but it doesn't give you the option as I have mentioned above to find other household members.

Yes Lostris thank you, that was the one, you could easily fathom out if you had found the person you were looking for by a bit of 'giggery pokery' entering place of birth, age, other household members.

Does anyone know if this can be done on any other sites?

No it wasn't that one, it was the government one ie .gov was in the website address.  You could also used your £5 voucher on the site to look at in the beginning just 1901 and then of course once more censuses came out you could look at those on the sit .

Haven't looked at census information online, in fact a very long time, and I am sure there was the census government site where you could put your information in and using a bit of guesswork you could find the person you were looking for.   I have gone into the site which I thought I used to use and it brings me to findmypast.  Anyone help with locating this site or is it now all findmypast :(

The issue has been solved and I have been credited with the amount so that is all okay.
Thanks for all suggestions of help.
