Thank you Kirsty, That has given me something new to look at.  As it was a military hospital it goes along with the facts that I have that he was in the army, I don't suppose they would have had civilian nurses working there, and I cannot find his registration under civilian nurses at Edinburgh. I would apply for a search for his records but it is so expensive at £30, and I have no idea of the regiment  he was in. :-*
Thank you once again.

Thank you for that Jim, I expect I will get used to it all, or someone will tell me if I make a mistake.

Hi Tom

Thank you for the postcard, it's good to see a photo.  I have found that the hospital did not close until around the 1950-60's.  The records for the hospital were all destroyed, apparently the army decided that they were of no use.

I got notification of your message on my e-mails, but when I went into Roots it said I had no messages since my last visit, I wondered why, do you know, I am not sure as you are my first answer?

Does anyone know if there are any records for the Hospital at Edinburgh Castle, my granddad William worked there pre 1938, he was killed in 1938 knocked down by a car near the end of Drummond Street. He is listed on his wedding certificate as a Male Nurse and also on the births of his children in 1932 and 34. I cannot find him listed on any nurse's register, I went to have a look in Edinburgh. I am trying to put some info of his life together. I was also told he was in the Army for a short time, but without his army number am unable to find him, I did pay £30 for a search, they found nothing in the regiments, but said I would need more info for a more detailed search. Anyone who knows anything about the hospital I would love to hear from.
