Yes, thank you. That's them, I just can't figure out where Mary Hills Baker's husband Thomas is. ??? I know they were married then(certificate), and stayed as such until they died.

Kent Lookup Requests / Obituaries from Maidstone
« on: Thursday 08 December 05 01:33 GMT (UK)  »
Being in the US, how would one go about finding obituaries that would've appeared in Maidstone's newspaper-provided it had one at the time? Dates I am interested in consist of 1891, 1884, 1873, 1903, 1904, 1946. I have more specifics on the people/dates, but didn't bother to list them as I don't even know if Maidstone had a newspaper then. Any advice/help/info. greatly appreciated.

Ok, thanks I will try that. I think I just assumed it was some sort of school because it had a matron, teachers, students in training, etc.

Thanks so much. It helps quite a bit. I went back and fourth on Harlington/Hartington so that's good to know for sure. Now to figure out why Daniel was away from home at 15ish, maybe being an apprentice? Thanks again!!

I am looking for a Daniel DAVALL in the 1841 census. He was 15, a book binder, and b. in London. The address was Hartington Street Brixton. I don't think I have the full reference number, what I have is HO107/1061. I'm interested in Daniel and whoever else resided there at the time of the 1841 census. Any info. is greatly appreciated.

I've tracked down one of my ancestors in the 1851 census of St. Pancras, Middlesex. The reference # that I have is HO107/1495, folio 656, page 44. I am curious as to what kind of school this was and the school's name. The address is 9 Swinton Street, and Sarah P. (or B.) Bodman was listed as the matron. My 3rd great-grandmother, Mary M. Baker, age 9, was listed as a visitor there. Mary's aunt, Ann Hills, age 39, was listed as an infant school mistress there. I assume Mary was there because of her aunt, but I wonder if she was also there as a student. Mary and Ann were both born in Maidstone, and Mary's parents and other siblings were in Maidstone for this census. Mary was with her family in the 1841 census of Maidstone as well. Beginning with the 1861 census, Mary is married (3 times) and I have her in every census until death. Any info. about this particular institution in the 1851 census would be greatly appreciated.
