Hmmm, I think it may be staying where it is, Roobarb.  I wanted to move it with 2 cuttings I have in pots to the other fence to deter any pesky intruders as that fence borders a road rather than a neighbour's garden.  I will let you know how I get on if I decide to attempt it  :-\

Roobarb, did they wear a suit of armour to remove it  ;D.  Evil thorns on a Pyracantha, mine has attacked me several times.  I chopped mine down from about 7 ft to about 4 ft this year with the intention of moving it to the other side of the garden but never got around to it.  Were the roots on yours deep/wide?  I'm wondering if moving it may be a bigger job than I thought.

I've reported the error to Findmypast.

Carole, you were very quick and efficient adding the correction to Ancestry, I was just about to do it  ;D.  I will correct it on Findmypast unless you have already done it.

Ancestry and Findmypast have her transcribed as Kathleen Elizabeth Crawshaw in 1921 living with Frederick Rhuast Hurne.

Francis, if you intend to buy the probate document can I suggest you buy it soon as the cost is going up from £1.50 to £16.00 on 17th November 2025.

See this thread:

Please let us know what it reveals if you buy it. I'm sure those who contributed and followed this thread would be interested to know if the signatures match and if the probate provides any more clues.

Do folks think he is the op’s man

SS

Yes, I think he is the right man.  As Jen said the matching birth dates seem too much of a coincidence.  Well done SS.

It would be good to hear the op's thoughts on this.

Ernest George Mackenzie has quite a distinctive signature at the bottom of the 1921 census (when he is with Jessie and Kenneth).  Maybe Francis could order a copy of the probate record for George Ernest Mackenzie posted by softly softly in post #7 and compare the signature.  It only costs £1.50.
