Also remembered that originally I took the scan from the one on the tin. Delicately prized off and flattened for the scan. I guess thats what the oval shape is around the picture.

Hi again..the picture on the tin backing is the same way round as the original I posted. i.e, showing left hand on table.

Unfortunately the copy I have is not good. I have one which is on a large board and crumbling and a smaller version which is mounted onto an oval tin shape. Neither are fantastic.
Unfortunately my scanner is not playing at the moment. As soon as it does I will attempt to re-scan.
Thx to you all

This is my Great Grandmother Sarah Bridgewater. Would love a date on this pic....esp as I notice she is wearing a wedding band and I have never been able to trace a marriage to the three gentlemen she lived with. Hmmmmm....

Thankyou Meles.
I have all birth certs....1st four children have no named father. The following five have a Harry Brown named as Father. However just 3 months after the birth of final child the whole family are listed on 1901 census as Whitehouse.
If only they had known what a headache it gives us??  ;D

The Common Room / 3 censuses, 3 marriages but no records??
« on: Monday 14 December 09 17:39 GMT (UK)  »
My GGM was listed with 3 different gentlemen over 3 decades of censuses. (1891. 1901, & 1911)Listed as married to all of them. However I have never managed to find marriage certificates. A total of 9 children were born to her....all listing either none (no Father)or one of these men as the father.
An old family member (now passed on) spoke of a rumour regarding a relationship with a "foreigner" who appeared everynow and again and left great Granny "with child"  ;).
Does anbody have any ideas why she may have avoided marriage or maybe why these records are untraceable.
The family are mostly from Wednesbury, Staffs.
