Wexford / Re: Maritime Connections
« on: Wednesday 06 November 13 19:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All I also have Carroll's from wexford in my tree.  My great grandmother was Bridget Carroll b 1882 in Wexford. Father Patrick Carroll, mariner and mother was Margaret Neill.  Another sister of Bridget was Margaret Mary Carroll b 1879 who later emigrated to Canada.  If anyone has any further info I'd be interested, cant seem to find much on the census.

I found this thread whilst looking at an address from which my grandmother was baptised.  Albany House in Llandudno, I myself was born and bred in Llandudno but the Albany House in my records was in Lloyd Street.  There are some fairly big houses in Lloyd St and perhaps my ancestors were renting rooms as they tended to move around a lot during this time.  Hope this helps

Thanks Cancan I believe the baptism would be around 1848 and the family were roman catholic, they lived in the Salford area up until the 1900's . John Donovan lists born in Salford on all the census's from 1871 onwards.  Thanks again for having a look for me.

Thanks Migky but have tried all the usual routes, did find a John Dinnagan on free bmd but probably a long shot.  Have been looking for years did find his marriage and the spelling was "Donniving" its driving me nuts at this stage!  thanks again :)

Anyone know if there is anywhere to locate baptisms for the salford area.  Im hqving no luck tracing a birth for John Donovan c 1848  Im sure the answer is down to a mispelling of the surname.  Would like therefore to trace the baptism, would be grateful for any info.  Thanks

Wexford / Bridget Carroll born 1881 Duke St Wexford
« on: Friday 22 May 09 15:28 BST (UK)  »
I have just received the birth cert of my gt grandmother.  We originally thought she was born in Enniscorthy, but the birth cert states Duke Street, Wexford.
Her parents were Patrick Carroll fisherman (originally told he was a mariner) and Margaret Neil.  Does anyone have any info on this family that might help me further in my search.  Thanks

Ireland / Re: Where in Ireland
« on: Saturday 16 May 09 21:00 BST (UK)  »
Sorry to be the one to tell  you but EIRE is the Irish spelling for the word Ireland.  What you really need to know is what county your relations came from, sometimes the census just shows Ireland/Eire or you may be lucky on a different census someone could say the actually county or town in Ireland.  Good luck with your search.
