Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Lancaster Assizes

G'day Greg, We have written to each other before about George Bevear and Mary Margaret Shannon. That was way-back in 2011. I haven't, unfortunately, been able to move on any further.
Cheers,

G'day MJW and Ladyhawk,

Bingo!  Thanks for that.  I needed a pathway and you've both supplied it.  I really appreciate that.  A ...... y came through and I've looked at all the appropriate links.

Great!

Cheers

I've just discovered that it was at Lancaster in the Quarter Sessions.  Does that make it more possibly traced?

Cheers

G'day Ladyhawk,

Thank you for your efforts.  I had all the records you listed, although the Medical Journal of the 'Exmouth' was certainly new information and provided one more piece to an interesting puzzle!

I had also previously gone to the website you had pointed to, but I honestly didn't follow how to find anything more than what you showed me. It doesn't seem, from my search, to show any arraignment of William Shannon at the Lancaster Assizes.

Are there any other options or is this information just possibly not there anymore?

With hope,

TasG

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Lancaster Assizes
« on: Monday 21 February 11 06:28 GMT (UK)  »
G'day all,

I am seeking some insight into finding information of how to find someone who has been tried at the Lancaster Assizes

Firstly, the fellow I am seeking is a William Shannon who was tried 26th April 1830 in the Lancaster Assizes.  He was given 14 years and transported to Australia in 1831 on the ship 'Exmouth'.  He gained his 2nd Ticket Of Leave in 1842.  I hope to find out what he did to get this sentence.

He may also have had a brother John Shannon who arrived earlier as a convict in 1829 having been tried 18 July 1828 at the Lancaster Assizes. (I can't find anything on him either)  It notes he is from Downpatrick and, like his possible brother, a shoemaker.

I have searched the Lancaster Castle database finding nothing, but from what I have read that may mean he was tried elsewhere in the county.

I'm open for suggestions!

Cheers and thanks,

TasG

Antrim / Re: Henderson - Templepatrick, Antrim

Try that again!

Templepatrick in Co. Antrim (Note: Don't trust everything sent through to you!)

His grandson was Presbyterian so that's as good as it gets.

Any takers?

Cornwall / ANGOVE - Liskeard, Cornwall
« on: Sunday 26 July 09 10:03 BST (UK)  »
G'day all,

I've had trouble finding details on this one, and hope you can help.  Two things I ask! ...

1. My ancestor, Elizabeth Over (poss Aver) was born ABT 1818 in St. Cleer, Kenwyn.  Is this date findable? Parents?

2. She married James Angove in March 18 1835 in Kenwyn, Cornwall.  He died on October 17 1856 at Church Street, Liskeard Borough, Liskeard, Cornwall.  I can not, though find a death/burial for her.  Can anyone locate a possible DOD of Elizabeth Angove?

I hope you smart people may be able to find things where I have not ...

Cheers and much thanks,

TasG

Antrim / Henderson - Templepatrick, Down
« on: Sunday 26 July 09 09:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Trying to make sure that my facts are correct, and see what I can add to what I know.

I have John Henderson, who was born June 15 1805 in Templepatrick, Down, Ireland.  I believe his father is John Henderson.  Mother's name is unknown.

He died August 18 1885, Knightswood Rows, Parish of New Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.

Could his mother's name/surname be found?

In hope,

TasG
