Cyril Varcoe Hooper was the son of John Varcoe Hooper and Violet Annita Bennett.

Violet's father was Edwin Bennett and her mother was Jane Adams.

Edwin's mother was Jane Bennett nee Chellew.

Cyril went to Canada at some point.

Bo'sun was named Mr ? Hooper and he owned/ran the Great Western Hotel in Nqy Cornwall - he had a daughter Sheila.  I do know a little about the telegram (I think it's a wedding telegram to a member of his family)  Their name was Chellew (my ancestors)

Thanks for the info, I am still not sure if its the same William and he changed his name from McKenna to Kenny (with a blip in the 1891 and gone back to McKenna) - do you think William may have lied about his age or did the enumerator make the mistake)  The 1891/1901/1911 are certainly the same family so perhaps they are the same family in 1861.  I will send for a cert for William b 1863 - many thanks, Sue

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Kenny family Leeds

I am looking for any information (older or uptodate family info)

In some census records the family appear as McKenna and in others as Kenny.
In 1891 the family are McKenna and in 1901 the same family have Kenny surnames
in 1911 the name is Kenny (correct as this is my husbands family)

I have William and Sarah's marriage cert for 1887 William Kenny age 22 father William deceased
but the following census shows the family as McKenna with Hannah born 1888, Christiana born 1890
in 1901 the family above are calledA Kenny and more children have been born
Alice born 1892, Arthur 1898 Albert 1900
in 1911 the family are Kenny with more children born James 1904 and Harry
(HOWEVER HANNAH & CHRISTIANA ARE NOT LIVING AT HOME BUT ARE MARRIAGE AGE)
The wife - Sarah Jane Kenny's age remains correct according to the marriage cert.
SO WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS WHEN WILLIAM WAS BORN AND WHO HIS PARENTS WERE AS I AM STUCK NOW AND UNABLE TO TRACE WILLIAM FURTHER.
I have traced Arthur and albert through war records and know these to be correct.
Perhaps the family of Hannah Christiana or Alice may be tracing their family and will see the message
