Hello Elaine,
This is really very nice of you and I do appreciate your help.
Please send me the picture at astorey(a)club-internet.fr
I don't think the other Storeys buried in this cemetery are related to my family.
Thanks a lot in advance. With my best regards,
Annick

Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism in West Ham request please

Hello Paco and Jayres,

Thank you for your very kind help.
I had found the 1911 census page where Ella Sollis age 5 appears. The problem is to relate her to the Sollis family. You are right : the best solution is to ask the birth certificate from the GRO.

Thanks anyway. Best regards,
Annick

Hello from France,

I would be very grateful if somebody who could have access to some parish records of West Ham, Essex (but I think it is greater London nowadays), could tell me who were the parents of :

SOLLIS Ella Eva, born January 18, 1906

Thank you very much in advance. And all my best wishes for 2012.

Hello Robin,
What a coincidence indeed ! Where are you living in France ?
I saw you put a picture of Henry Kemp ; by any chance would you have one of Charlotte or her children ?
Wishing you a nice Sunday (cold but sunny here in Paris),
Kind regards,
Annick

Hello,

I think I can give you some details about the marriage of Henry Kemp and Charlotte Erstina Winkler. They married in Cochin on May, 2nd 1835 and this is the transcription of the parish register (found at the British Library)
"1835 N/2/O/3, f. 14
Henry Kemp and Charlotte Winkler
Marriages at Cochin.
Henry Kemp, Bachelor, Master Mariner, and Charlotte Winkler, Spinster, both of Cochin, were married in this Church of Cochin by License from the Right Honorable the Governor this second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five, by me, S. Ridsdale, Officiating Clergyman.
This marriage was solemnized between us: H. Kemp, C. Winkler
In the presence of: R. Oliphant, Sarah Buchanan"

Charlotte was the daughter of Pieter Winkler, pilot of Cochin harbour, and Caroline.
Pieter was from Dutch origins but born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He probably emigrated to India by 1790. Married twice. He had at least 7 children with his second wife Caroline (maiden name still unknown).
Charlotte was born on 30/10/1813.
I have no info about her married life and what happened to her children.
I don't know if they stayed in India or moved away.

Best regards from France,
Annick

Hello Kirk,
Thanks for your answer.
It is true that Theophilus isn't a very common name and the coincidence puzzled me. I have checked my files : I have no Christian and no Francis Henry among the Winklers in India. So I think there is no connection....
All my best wishes for 2011.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Charles John Theophilus Winckler
« on: Wednesday 22 December 10 15:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hello from France,
I came across your message because I am tracing a Winckler family in India. One of them was called John Theophilus Winckler and was born in 1831. His father was John Frederick, and the ancestor of them all was Pieter Winkler who came from Schleswig-Holstein, was probably from Dutch origin and settled in Cochin c.1800.
I found a Christian Martin Frederick Winkler, born in India in 1827.
Do you think your CJTW's father  could have come from India ?
Best wishes and a very happy Christmas

Annick Storey

Charles John Theophilus Winckler was a pianoforte maker.  There are a few Wincklers and Winklers in the 1841 census who are pianoforte makers and I know that somehow they are connected.  We know that CJTWs father was called Christian.  CJTW says his father was dead in 1842 when he married Charlotte Ebden...
In the 1841 census CJTW is living with who appears to be his aunt and her husband as well as his future wife and in-laws.
I am trying to find out who CJTWs parents are.  He says in the 1851 census that he was born in St Pancras.  There are a lot of Wincklers in that parish too.
There appears to be an ancestor called Christian Gottfried marrying Lucy Free but there is no concrete proof.   ???
Is anyone able to assist in finding the pre1841 roots of this pianoforte making family? ;)
Thanks
Kirk
