Mission accomplished !
Thank you, JenB, this one is down to you.

It was fortunate that there was an entry in the Evening Chronicle, and that the burial and grave registers for Jesmond Cemetery were available online.

It's a very poor quality scan I'm afraid.

By the way, the notice says he died at Ebchester, whereas your post said he died at Newlands. The latter was only a mile or so west of Ebchester.

Also:
" ‘Deals’ were timber suitable for making boards, imported into east-coast ports from the Baltic, sometimes called Prussian deals. "

I'm involved in a transcription project and in a lot of letters from Newcastle merchants in late 17th to mid-18th century there are frequent references to the import of timber 'deals' from Sweden.

The Common Room / Re: What is a W. A. S. Inspection (Eng)? (1939 REGISTER)
« on: Tuesday 05 August 25 20:12 BST (UK)  »
When I search for occupation "W. S. Inspection" in Bradford in the 1939 Register on Ancestry another chap comes up - John S Brown, DOB 1917 - can someone with a subscription have a look?

The entry for John S Brown, gives occupation as W.O. Inspection Engineer Cll.  The "Cll" part is not clear.

Could  the W.O. be war office, and the Cll be short for civilian.
In which case I hazard a guess that the “A.”  is admiralty or air

Forgive me, but I’m losing the plot a bit.

The John Brown entry (reply #36) doesn’t contain the letter ‘A’. The only similarity it has to Ernest Thompson’s occupation is the letter W and the word ‘Inspection’.

Newcastle Evening Chronicle, 2nd June 1921

Wilson - at Ebchester on 1st inst., Henry Newbegin Wilson, dearly beloved son of late George and Elizabeth Wilson, interment Jesmond Old Cemetery at 11.30 a.m. on Sat June 4th., cortege leaves 126 Sandringham Road, Gosforth at 11.a.m. All friends please accept this the only intimation.

Just to tie this up nicely, the occupant of 126 Sandringham Road in 1921 was a Mary H Newbegin.
She died on 4th July 1922 and, as you can see from the grave register I linked to in reply #3, was buried in the same grave plot as Henry and his mother.

I rest my case  ;D

his home address was at 20 Ravenswood Road, Heaton, Newcastle on Tyne. His next of kin was his mother, Elizabeth Jane Wilson.

As you can see from the grave register his mother pre-deceased him.

Newcastle Evening Chronicle, 7th March 1919

Wilson - 20 Ravenswood Road, Heaton, on the 4th, Elizabeth Jane, widow of the late George Wilson. Interment at Jesmond Old Cemetery, Sat., 8th at 1 p.m.

You can the use link in reply #2 to see her name and address in the 1919 burial index.

And here he is in the grave register.

The annotation 'to...' followed by another grave number indicates that the bodies interred in this section were exhumed and re-buried along with many others. This was in order that a road widening scheme could take place (which never happened). https://www.geni.com/projects/Jesmond-Old-Cemetery-Burials/29648

For Newcastle related deaths the Evening Chronicle is the go-to starting place for death and funeral announcements  ;)
