Lanarkshire / Re: Census Lookup 1901 for O'Neill
« on: Thursday 10 April 08 06:59 BST (UK) »Hi Dennis ,
The O'Neill family in my line were from Co. Cork , Ireland ( the family thinks ).
2 O'Neills ( Bernard and Francis ) moved to Scotland . Francis married a Catherine Teresa Farrell in 1907 Scotland .
Francis O'Neill came to America without his family, and worked in Illinois area and the Michigan area for awhile . It wasn't until 1930 that his wife and children came to the US. They settled in NJ , NY area.
Francis is suppossed to be one of possibly 13 children . I am only definate about 4 of the boys names . Francis , Thomas , Bernard and William . The girls might be : Catherine . I haven't found any others yet .
The McMahon side for me is also part of the Farrell line .
Catherine McMahon married a William McPoland in Ireland ?
They had a daughter named Mary McPoland born circa 1846 in Co. Down
Mary McPoland married a Peter Farrell in 1878 in Co. Down .
they had 3 children . Their first child is Catherine Teresa Farrell who married Francis O'Neill ( mentioned above )
Now the Kelly part of my family is on both sides of my tree. My mother's maiden name is Kelly . Those Kellys are said to be from the Kilrush area of Ireland . That Kelly line settled in upstate NY area . ( Rochester , Syracuse, Ellicottville ).
The other Kelly side also goes with the Farrell line. Before Peter Farrell married Mary McPoland he was married to a Martha Kelly .
I also think Peter had a brother named James Farrell who married a Mary Kelly.
both marriages took place in Scotland .
If this fits with you let me know . You can PM me and exchange emails .
