Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Henry PONTING in 1861 and 1871
« on: Tuesday 20 January 09 16:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am sorry for any confusion, when I posted the prior findings of the Henry who was in Australia. That was the only findings I could locate and wondered if it " could " be the right one. With little information ( and wide area to his birth date ) in trying to help someone. I felt like I was searching in the dark at most points. The person is happy for my help but, at the same time I feel he is a little reserved on what information he has or gives out. ( ???? ) My deepest appoligies. The findings I made last night are of the right family. The person who I am trying to help confirmed I was on the right track. But the confirmation is all I got. Sorry again.

This is what I found today. All persons listed were from the district of Clifton in the county of Gloucestershire. Henry was born in 1840. He married a Maria Stevens b. 1848. They married Dec.1865. Edward William b. 1868. If you find something to add to the search, it would be great. If you know of a good site to research at let me know also. Thanks everyone.

Hello everyone " Happy New Year " to all. I greatly appreciate the posts. I myself, is at cross road on the research. Anything I have is either too old or too new to the dates I was given. I did find on a tree post this. Henry Ponting b. 1831 - St. James, Bristol, GLS, Eng. Bap. 19 June 1831 St James, St. Jacob,  Bristol. Son of Thomas Ponting and Amelia Row. Shows he was married twice. He married, lived and died in Australia. " Nichols Family Person " pg. 10, tizzana.com/au/familyhistory . I wrote to the person I am trying to help with what was found by everyone. I told him, a little more information would help. I am waiting on his replie and will let everyone know A.S.A.P. Thanks again on the posts.

Hi Phil-                                                                                                                                                                           Just wanted to let you know. I identified some unknown family photo's today. One is of Tom Candy Ponting and his wife Margaret. We knew they were Ponting's, just did'nt know who.  I came across a photo in a library book at Cornell College. It was a photo of Tom and I could'nt belive my eyes.  I have another photo ( taken the same day ) with him and some other men.  I think the older men are his brother's and the younger one's to be son's.  If your interested I would be glad to e-mail a copy to you.  Just let me know.

You have no idea how happy I am to hear the news. Thank you so much !!!! John died 8 Apr. 1867 Chilcompton at age 72. Ruth died 10 Mar. 1875 Chilcompton at age 81.  Do you know how many childern Theophilus and Ann or Sophia had ? I ran across a record of a will for Theophilus that I will sending for. Now I know where Tom Candy Ponting got his middle name from. By the way my connection is from my grandfathers side. Oren Polk. His mother was Nellie Ponting. Her father was William Ponting his parents were John and Ruth. Let me know if you have any more questions. I do have some photo's of Ponting's in the U.S. and photo's of people were not sure of.
