Hello Greentea,

I have early family 1860's for many years in this area. My Gf's went to Constantinople, they did return  to Enfield, will try and get hold of the apprentices books.
Family research is Irving, Dyke, Moore, Bostock.   I also live in New Zealand.

Chris,
David arrived on the 'Canterbury' 1869 (Marriner), does not show on passenger list, must have been on the crew, this info came from Peter Burke. In 1872 was storeman at the import shed, Railways Chch. Later was dismissed for disorderly conduct for speaking out his mind. Lots in the Lyttelton Times.  Never found out why he came.  I have a
photo of him with Christchurch Fire Brigade.
May have been in touch with you some time ago, are you Chris I___?

Hello Gadget and Chris.
David Irving b Gretna is my xxxgfather. James Oldham Irving came to NZ and his son John William Irving is my gfather. Have some things of James Oldham's sister, Maragret, she married Benjamin Dyke 1860 and this seems to be where the story is, about a 'Knight' in the family.
I did think that George and Margaret Carlyle maybe David's parents, been looking for a number of years.
