World War One / Re: War diary for 4th Bn London Regiment

Thank you both Andy J2022 and tonepad - it all sounds very complicated but I think Ancestry have some records for the 56th Division so I'll search there.  Thanks again  :)

World War One / War diary for 4th Bn London Regiment

It's been a while since I looked at war diaries on Ancestry and I can't find the 4th Bn., London Regiment.

I'm researching Capt. Eric Giles who died of wounds on 16 July 1916 (at Le Tréport).

Can anyone tell me which Division this battalion came under so I can locate the diary and work back from this date?

Thank you - this is really interesting.  I don't think my person of interest came from a well-off family so I'm struggling to see her connection to this address but I will persevere :)

Thank you everyone for replying.  I can't seem to add an attachment (jpeg or pdf).

I'm actually interested in the first person on page 2 of this address:

Sarah Featherstone aged 34, born Islington

I'm interested in 140 New Kent Road, Southwark on the 1901 census.  I'm researching someone listed at that address and wondering if it is something to do with the workhouse?

There are 15 occupants; the head is described as 'Superintendent' and most of the other occupants as 'lodgers' but again most don't have occupations.

Does anyone know the history of this building or can throw some light on what is going on here?

Thank you.  I have Elizabeth's death cert. Reynold's Court was off Type Street.  Elizabeth died from cholera.

Thank you everyone for trying to help.

It's so confusing isn't it.  I found all the Banns and didn't know what to make of it.  Elizabeth Simpson was married previously - to someone called Cannon but I can't find their marriage.  Perhaps he wasn't actually dead when she married George.  I have seen this before on another branch of my tree.  It's also annoying knowing where they lived in 1841 but the census hasn't survived for their street - it might have shown other children/relatives.

Harriet's son (George) was born illegitimately and she married Robert Wolfe later.  I have had contact with a decendent of this George.  Far too many George's!

I have found James b1840 on the 1861 census - and a possible for Alfred but I'm not 100% certain it's the right one.  I would love to know what happened to George b1800.
