There are 3 possible deaths between 1875-1878 in London:

1876 Holborn aged 37 (Henry Scott)
1876 Shoreditch aged 39 (Henry Lily Scott)
1877 Whitechapel aged 41 (Henry Walter Scott)

Ancestry's "England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892" don't tell you the name of the prison.  However, if I were to guess I would say that it would be one in the same county (Middlesex).

The most obvious one would be Wormwood Scrubs, if it was open at that time.

Alfred Luckman birth registered Qtr Jul 1894 Nuneaton, Warwickshire

1901 Census – the only candidate that I can see that is living in Nuneaton is “Fred” Luckman aged 6 who is described as the son of John and Sarah Luckman.  [Piece 2902 Foilio 161 Page 47].  This household also incudes their daughter Mary aged 20.  If this is the right family then she would have only been 14 when Alfred was born.

1911 Census – “Frederick Luckman” boarder in house of George and Mary Styles [RG14PN18475 RG78PN1108 RD388 SD1 ED29 SN178]. Also there is 1 year old George Styles.

There are 7 Luckman children births registered in Nuneaton whose mother’s maiden name was James between 1921-1951, with the last being in 1942.

There is a possible death registered in 1960 for Alfred Luckman in Nuneaton aged 66 and for Ellen Luckman in April 1984 aged 83 also in Nuneaton.

Lancashire / Re: Prison Record of James Fitzpatrick?

The conviction was for manslaughter and not murder which is why he was not hung.

In the 1891 Census he was on a prison ship at Gillingham.

I think you might need to look at the National Archives: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-place/prisons.htm

Church Stoke baptisms - Family Search - Montgomeryshire - batch No C157841 - 1828 only

Findmypast which have a lot of Welsh parish records do not have any for Church Stoke, Montgomeryshire.

The original of the 1851 Census is very difficult to read, but interestingly both Ancestry and Findmypast have the same transcription for her place of birth.

I'm not certain what it says either.

If you look at the National Gazetteer of Wales for places in Montgomeryshire that begin with CH then Churchstoke is certainly the most likely.  http://homepage.ntlworld.com/geogdata/ngw/c.htm

Pembrokeshire / Re: Durance Rixon of Steynton

If you want to go further back it is possible to find earlier baptisms, marriages and burials for ladies with the same name, Durance, but different surnames.

If that is of interest to you let me know.

Ancestry has a number of on trees featuring her saying that she was born 1788, in Pembrokeshire, and that here parents were John Rixon (1760-1808) and Elizabeth Morgan.  These trees cite the Bishop’s transcripts for Pwllcrochan, as evidence of her baptism.  Unfortunately a copy of the original of that document is not attached to enable independent verification.  What at least one of these tree has are fairly well documented citations, to take the tree back a further two generations:

John was the some of Stephen Rixon (1731-1798) and Mary Enion.  Stephen being baptised at Pwllcrochan.  His father was William.

That tree also says that the surname can be spelt Rickson, or Riskston.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Was my Albert Baldwin a bigamist?
« on: Friday 07 June 13 23:01 BST (UK)  »
I assume that you have the birth certificate for Thomas Hulme Baldwin, from which you have worked backwards, and that has led you to look for an Albert Baldwin born in Halifax about 1862?  There is no birth record that corresponds to that.  As a complete aside when searching I did see a “Prince Albert Edward Baldwin” registered in Bradford in 1863!

Widening the search to bring in births back to 1850, shows that there is only one Albert Baldwin registered in Halifax, and that was in 1855.

I assume that you have his father's name from the marriage record that you have and if you search the 1871 Census for an Albert Baldwin living in Halifax (no age specified) with a father called Fred or Frederick, then there is only one result and that is the one that you found.

I am inclined to support your view that he was indeed a bigamist.  By the way in 1911 Walter Baldwin could be found in Armley Prison!  His brother John was married and living in Halifax, and I can’t find Susan either in the census or the death records.
