How to Use RootsChat (Please don't post requests here) / Re: unable to send a PM
« on: Tuesday 03 April 12 19:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi Carol,

Thanks. Hopefully she will.
She hasn't re-visited her post on the other site either.
As I say she's an older lady trying her best to make contact, and despite me trying my best to reach her I suppose that will have to be that.
It is clearly remiss of her to try using Rootschat, and worst of all to fail to complete three posts.

Regards

Andrew

Hi Carol,

If you do a Google search using the term Priscilla Donald Stirling one of the top matches is Rootschat. I guess it's not technically a post, but the two names are linked.

Priscilla knows who this lady is and would like to make contact, but what can I do? The lady is an older lady, and may not be as conversant with sites like this as others are. She may have tried to complete a post and given up, I don't know. But some activity is clearly shown.

I would have thought there must be a record of her e-mail address, and cannot understand why it is impossible for someone to let her know that contact is being tried, but I can't do anything about that.

Regards

Andrew

How to Use RootsChat (Please don't post requests here) / unable to send a PM

Hi,

I have tried to send a Personal Message to     sylivia silver    but have had the following message sent back.

PM could not be sent to 'sylivia silver'

due to the max. PM limit.

Is there a way for an administrator to send a message for me using the e-mail you have on your side of her profile?  She is trying to make contact with Priscilla Donald from Stirling, and I am in contact with her.

Regards

Andrew

Armed Forces / Re: Locating WWII Service Record
« on: Sunday 29 January 12 11:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have a death certificate which is of no help I'm afraid.
The record cannot be located by them they say without either birth date or regiment.
The length of service was short and unremarkable (discharge: ill health).

Thanks

Armed Forces / Locating WWII Service Record
« on: Sunday 29 January 12 08:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am unable to access a WWII Service record because I do not know the date of birth of the soldier I'm interested in, or his regiment. I have been unable to locate a birth certificate, and no clue remains as to the details of his service whatsoever.

I know his full name, approximate age and  home address.

Does anyone know of an effective way of finding out his regiment from such limited information?

Many thanks

Andrew

Buckinghamshire / Re: Richard Ells (Eales) marriage

Hi Steve,
Thanks.
You may be right. I've seen little else to go on as a lead. I'll look into that.

Buckinghamshire / Richard Ells (Eales) marriage
« on: Wednesday 25 May 11 19:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help.
I'm looking for the marriage of Richard Ells (Eales) to Ann.
Their last know place of residence was Wexham in 1791.
They christened their children there, but I can find no marriage.
I believe the IGI has all of marriages for Wexham for this period, but their's is not there.
I'm guessing that the marriage should be 1780s or early 1790s and near Wexham, but I've had no luck.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Andrew

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Charles Avery born 1808-1809
« on: Wednesday 11 May 11 18:59 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for trying to help. This is not the record I'm afraid.

Census searches will not unfortunately solve my query. I have exhausted that possibility myself.

If someone knows of any birth/christening record of a Charles Avery born 1808/09 with a father called Charles I would be most grateful.

Thanks

Hi

If anyone can find any other Charles Avery born in 1808-09 with a father called Charles (other than the one in North Molton) that would be a great help.

Thanks
