Denbighshire / Re: Another Roberts from Chirk
« on: Sunday 27 November 11 22:14 GMT (UK)  »
hi gnu
Yes the broken link with the family in the 1841 cansus is a major frustration. Mary was in service and her marriage cert  in 1849 gives her ocupation as servant. I believe her father Robert is alive when she marries as it gives his occupation as labourer. I suspect that Elizabeth LLoyd died sometime between the birth of Robert  c1836 and the 1841 census, the most probable reason for the familly breakdown.
Sorry if my guess of birth year of 1790 for Robert (senior)was missleading. not being able to identify him in the 1841/51 census left me guessing based on his marriage
I didn't realise that their was a problem with the IGIrecords for Chirk. I need to think of some way to get access to the parish records to do a more detailed search.

Sources are IGI, Census back to 1841 Freebmd etc I don't have access to parish registers. I have the marrige cert for Mary Roberts and Richard Northall in 1841 which gives Mary Roberts father as Robert Roberts.
From the IGI one possible birth for Robert Roberts was 14/4/1798 at Chirk father Job mother Ann Jones. The difficulty is tying them together with any degree of certainty.

Thanks for such a quick response. The date of 1790 for his birth is a guess and could be as late as 1805 as I have never been able to identify him in any census.

Looking for any information on a direct ancestor Robert Roberts born circa 1790. I believe he married Elizabeth Lloyd  20/8/1825 at Chirk and they had children Mary c1826 born Chirk, Edward c1833 Chirk, and Robert c1836 Chirk.
Mary married Richard Northall in June 1849 at Chirk and her brother is living with them at Chirk Green in the 1851 census.

Is this combination of names familiar? Sarah was my GGgrandmother. Her birthplace around 1805 was supposedly Westminster!  I have miniatures with "Squire Lane Market Street" written on them!

Looking for information on any descendants of William Henry Crees. He was the father of Paul Braddon, local artist, aka James Leslie Crees. William  had a lot of daughters!
