I was wondering if any of you did the Ancestry DNA test? I really believe there may be some connection. I am trying to see if John Doherty, Patrick Doherty (died 1900), Charles Doherty or Anne Doherty all listed as children of a Mary Doherty nee: unknown is known to any of you? Mary Doherty and her husband could have had more children also that I am unaware of. Mary lived with John her son during the 1901 census and John is listed as si glue on the 1911 census. I can't seem to find out where any of them are buried in Athenry. I know her son Patrick that died had three sons and a daughter.

With regards to the Mary Doherty you are looking for, do you know if any of this information fits in with what you have? Thanks

I am related to the Mary Doherty (70) and John Doherty (40) on the 1901 census. I am still trying to figure out where they lived exactly. The Mary Doherty (70) on the 1901 census is my 3rd great grandmother. I am still trying to find information. The John Doherty in the 1901 census was a plasterer that worked for the Broderick's. I am in possession of a letter from Mary Doherty where she speaks about the family. The letter states her husband is dead and is buried in Athenry. Her son Patrick Doherty died in 1900 leaving behind three sons and a daughter. John the plasterer is working and went to great expense to bury his brother Patrick. He buried his brother next to the father in Athenry. My great great grandfather is Charles Doherty. He immigrated to the US and the letter is written to his daughter Mary.

Hello,

My husbands mom is from Kilbeagh Parish. I went on to the Lietrim Roscommon 1901 Census website and looked up your family. Clossick and Closick are found in Kilbeagh Parish it is a big parrish but depending what homeplace they were from they could have known each other. Hope this helps I know it has been a few years since you were on this site. Look up the census online.
