« on: Tuesday 02 May 06 21:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi Gareth

tentatively I have James christened on 10 Feb 1779 the son of William and Mary Bookham

Siblings could be Thomas, Jane, Mary, henry, Anne and Isaac

I am not sure whether William bookham is the one christened on 14.4.1734 (son of William Bookham and Mary Sims) or the one christened on 28 April 1745 (son of THomas Bookham and Hannah Stone)

Look forwardd to hearing from you

best wishes

SArah

Hi Carol

Bookers / Bookhams - too many for such a small place !

I think the first one is him.  He did marry a Jane in 1844 (so to add to the confusion there were two William and Jane Bookers about at the same time !).   My William and Jane moved to Camberwell in about 1850 and were resident there until their deaths (Jane in 1859 and William in 1889).

William''s father was James Booker who has remarrried in 1814 to an Ann (following death of Wililam's mother Susannah), is there any sign of him ?  He would be about 60

many thanks

Sarah

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Re: Cade - Sculcoates / Hull
« on: Saturday 04 December 04 21:18 GMT (UK)  »
HI Ticker

The only progress I have made since the posting is that I have found the marriage for Robert Cade to Mary Blain on 17 April 1787.  I don't know where they were married as i found it in the 'Faculty Office Marriage Licence Index' and that gave no indication of location.  I believe the index was something to do with the York diocese ?

Details wise I don't have a lot.  To expand on before  Ewbank Cade, christened on 12 September 1788 at St MAry's in Hull married Elizabeth Smith on 19 April 1813 in Swallow Lincolnshire.  Their first child, Mary, was born in Swallow in 1814 but then the family moved to Sculcoates (He was a sailmaker which I assume was the reason for the move)  and the next three of their children (William Ewbank Cade (1816), Sarah Cade (1818) and Robert (1826) were all christened in Sculcoates.

At some point in the late 1820s the family moved the Leicester as the two other children were born there

Other than that I have coem ot a dead end with the family.

the name Ewbank carried on through 3 generations so it would be inetretsing to know the orioginal original on the name and why in 1788 someone was called it !

a very long shot I know but am looking for William Mayo (probably born about 1795-1800) and his son James Mayo (born 1822).  I don;t know whereabouts they were form in Ireland but they moved to Northamptonshire and James was resident in Blisworth when he married in 1842.  I believe they worked on the canals

Mike

thank yoo so much for looking those up quickly.

I have a lot of Normans in Oadby as I have a Norman marrying a Norman and at the moment I have't found the connection between the two Norman families !

Other main ones are

William Norman (possibly aged 63)

Richard Norman (aged 42)
Alice Norman (aged 33)

(There is also another Richard Norman who was born in 1802 who also married an Alice but my direct line Richard who was born in 1799)

With the Hargraves the earliest informaiton is the 1851 census.  At some point Sarah Hargrave's (nee Cade) family moved dwon to Leicester and were there in 1851 but I don't know when they came down but George and Sarah's daughter Emma was born  in Leicester in 1836 although I have been unable to find her christening at the moment.

Anything you are able to find would be much appreciated but if it is too much hunting then don't worry

best wishes

Sarah

Would be interested in hearing from anyone else with Cade ancestors in Sculcoates / Hull.  My family christened at St MAry's Hull were the children of Robert and Mary Cade (Ewbank 1788, Robert 1789, Ann 1791 and Julia 1794)

thanks
