hi ,it may be a long shot but i wonder if anyone has  been researching a evelyn l yates born in 1912 her mothers maiden name was dean in woolstanton district my late mother in law  was ivy winsome yates her mothers maiden name is down as bean but i wonder if it is a mis print and should have been dean no one in the family knows anything about evelyn ,ivy's father was blind &was a pianist they moved to derbyshire but i'm not sure when  thanks in anticipation

hi tati,it's all so confusing,on the 1871 census it says ann brooks is his mother,i sent for his marriage certificate when he married my great gran in 1886 but there is no father on it thanks anyway tati

i wonder if any kind person has access to chesterfield baptism records,i am looking for samuel joseph fokinther born in chesterfield in 1866,we think his mother was ann who then married john brooks in 1870,i have looked on freeb.m.d but i havent found him on there,i have put in different spellings but to no avail thanks in anticipation

hi leonie,sorry i've only just back to you only been busy with the footie.i'm afraid i am letting things slide at the moment but i have been trying to trace a joseph fokinther born circa 1844,i found a marriage in stockton in 1866 but there was only 1 woman's name&2 meni found him on the 81 census,then in 1904 there was the death of joseph falkington in middlesboroughi think it maybe oneand thesame person but can't be sure i will keep you informed with any more details if i get anymore best wishes josie

hi doodle,thanks for your reply,the family came to derbyshire between 1848 and 1850,there is so many different spellings,i had given up hope of finding joseph's birth in 1809 then another spelling popped up with fokey,i feel that this was him.thanks again best wishes josie

hi everyone,i have been looking for a joseph fokinther born 1809 but couldn't find him,until some kind lady found a joseph fokey who's parents had the same names as his and born the same area and year.i wonder if anyone has any info on his parents ,john and elizabeth please any small detail would be very useful as i am trying to find out where they originated from,at the moment it's looking like dutch thanks again josie

hello jill,i have lost count how many spellings there is of that name forkinther /folkinther/falkington and a few more besides,my dads cousins is fokinther so i think fokey may well be the right one,on the church register for his marriage to jane (wait for it)smith it was falkington and different spellings since then.thanks very much for the info it's great.we know they came from overseas but there is a difference of opinion in the family either holland or belgium and someone suggested dutch-africaan maybe one day we will find out thanks once again best wishes josie

hello pauline,toby and phil thanks for the information,i'm afraid i don't know much about oxfordshire so could you tell me how far charlbury is from leafield please,i asked one of my aunts about where grandad came from but she did'nt know anything at all,another aunt said great grandad was a gamekeeper for winston churchill,i think grandad left under a cloud thanks again josie
