Are you aware there is a Shaws Lane just off Bath Avenue.  I think it runs along the back gardens
of some of the houses on Vavasour Sq.   If you google Shaws Lane it comes up.

Hi, I know this was covered in other posts but have been unable to find them when I need them and would be grateful if somebody can clarify  it for me - I have found two marriages on Family Search and everything matches except the page number  - one is Pg.539 and the other is 602 - Is it possibe they are married to each other or does everything have to match?

Thanks

Dublin / Re: Donnybrook Catholic church records
« on: Saturday 12 September 09 21:02 BST (UK)  »
My ggranparents were married in 1870 in St.Marys, Star of the Sea, Sandymount.  You have to approach the church direct as these records are not in the National Library in Kildare Street.  My gggrandparents (who lived in the same area) were married in 1853 in St. Marys, Haddington Road, Dublin 4.  (The parish records for this church are available in the National Library and they go back to 1800)  I think Haddington Road was the Roman Catholic church for Donnybrook, Ballsbridge and surrounding areas in the early 1800's.

Hi Tracey,
The William Davis listed on the 1911 Census living in Summerhill is my Grandfathers brother.  His parents are also listed living at 157.2  Britain Street, Rotunda.  If this is your William, he is the second son of William Davis and Mary Walsh.  I have their 1901 Census Return - they were living at 9 Grenville St. and William is listed on that Return age 11.
My Mother who is in her eighties remembers John but can't remember what happened to William.  My grandfather was married twice and my mother is the youngest child of the second marriage.  She also remembers that John was married twice .  Wlliam's mother Mary died in 1943 at 13 Mountjoy St.  I have not found his fathers date of death.
There also other children on the 1901 Return - Elizabeth, Hanora, Rose and Mary Jane.  On the 1911 there is another child Annie.

Hi,

I have a William Davis born 1889 to William Davis and Mary Walsh.  He was my grandfathers brother.  I have them living in the Mountjoy Square area in 1911 census.  My grandfather Albert also served in the British Army during World War 1.  My grandfather was a tailor as also was his father and  his brother.  If you think there is a connection I can give you further details.

I know there is a cemetery in Little Bray.  It is called St. Peter's.  My aunt and uncle who lived in Shankill are buried there.  Maybe if you contact there they may be able to help you.

Eileen,

Thanks for your reply.  As I said previously when I was in the National Library they said they had not got the Sandymount Parish information and that is why I had to apply to the Church direct.  I don't think their registers have been transcribed and they have to look up the original registers and thats why it  takes a while to get the information.
