One Name Studies: A to G / Re: BOXALL (and variants), All
« on: Thursday 06 January 05 11:32 GMT (UK)  »
Our tree includes Boxell from Brighton but unfortunately we have no information about them. We are looking for ancestors of Eliza Boxell born about March 1876 in the Brighton area and believed to be the daughter of David ( bc 1849 Brighton) and Eliza Boxell (bc 1851 London). Is she included in your study? We would be interested in information about any Sussex Boxells.

Completed Census Requests / Re: Census Lookup Request 1851/1861 Northamptonshire
« on: Thursday 30 September 04 19:16 BST (UK)  »
I am a member of the same family and will let you have the census and other details when I can locate them. In the meantime I hope the following is of interest. (All is subject to checking with original sources.)

Wellingborough All Hallows 350p/660  Marriages 1813 - 37
Joseph Walding lab.  and Mary Gooding of Doddington sp. 27 Oct 1816

From the 1851 census Joseph's place of birth was given as Clipston, Northants.
and his age as 50.
Mary's place of birth was Doddington, Northants, and she was 50.

BT's for Clipston give a baptism for Joseph Walden 28 July 1793 but no parentage appears to have been recorded so I need to check the original record. However all other 'Walden' children around that time were children of  Joseph and Elizabeth or less possibly John and Susannah. I have found no marriage dates for either but have assumed that Joseph and Elizabeth were his parents.

Joseph was buried 9 Nov 1886 at Irchester and Mary possibly on 21 Mar 1867.

Jonas was therefore  a younger brother of John and Susannah was the older sister of Rebecca. (She was 33. in 1851) When both Jonas and Rebecca died of  ? scarlet fever? within a short time of each other (deaths 11 Apr 1873 and 6 Oct 1873) leaving several children, the two youngest Arthur, my grandfather, and his  brother, Samuel Henry, were brought up by John and Susannah.
