Hello Shalena

In your reply you asked if I hailed from the Sussex Mews. The answer is yes!
I am descended from Thomas and Lucy Mew via

Moses              bap 14/12/1766 Framfield              Bur 2/6/1816 Marden
Michael Mew     bap 22/4/1798 Marden                  Died 1880 Q1 Maidstone
William Mew      bap 6/12/1840 East Farleigh         Died 1895 Q3 Woolwich
Sydney Samuel Mew born 12 Feb 1888 Charlton    Died 22/2/1964 Charlton

For Thomas and Lucy I currently show 5 Children
Lucy Mew         bap 14/24/1754      died 8/3/1834
John Mew         bap 8 Aug 1756      died unknown
Michael Mew     bap unknown         died 21/23/1821
Moses Mew      bap14/12/1766       died 2/6/1816
Thomas Mew    I am pretty sure he was a sibling, but I have not been able to track down any details as yet.

The only information I have on Thomas and Lucy is that I believe Lucy was buried on 4/12/1793 in Marden where thier sons John and Moses has relocated.

You mention Thomas and Lucy are in your paternal line, what route does your ancestry link you to them?

Kind regards  David Mew

I have just come across your query. Perhaps you have solved it by now. I have recently obtained a copy of the Uckfield/Framfield certificate for Thomas and Lucy Mew. I believe their children were born between about 1791 and 1801. If that is the case then it is unlikely that the Hastings Thomas Mew is one and the same person as I would imagine he was too old to have fathered the children.  I have not proved any direct link yet, but my I suspect that Thomas Mew's ancestors may have moved from the Hastings area originally.

Kind Regards  David Mew

Many thanks for the advice, I had not previously found an answer to my query.

I was not aware of the "select Record Search Pilot" function and am now wiser thanks to you.

I thought it likely that the family probably came from the Sussex area where you found Moses Mew's birth, but until now was unable to find any connection.

Kind regards  David Mew  :D

Hello Jean

Thanks for the feedback.

I was lucky enough to find the Marden site a few weeks ago and have been to their Heritage Centre where they have access to a database with more detailed information than is available on their web site. Well worth the trip and very helpful people.

Kind Regards   David

Hello Jean

Thanks for the Mary Mew information.

I have two Richard Mew's born in Marden

1.born 26 Mar 1795 christened 20 April 1795 parents John and Sary
2.born 2 May 1805 parents John and Sarah.

It is possible that Sary is actually Sarah and perhaps the first child died.

John and Sarah also had the following children  Lucy, Mary, Harriet and Teling. So far I have not been able to tie any of them up with my relatives, but as you suspect it is likely they are connected.

Kind regards David

Hello Isobelruss

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my query.

The Michael Mew age 40 in 1841 is Moses son
Thomas Mew age 55 in 1841 is likely to be related, but I am not able confirm things yet.

Are the Mew's part of your research? If not thanks again for looking.

Kind regards

David Mew

Hello

I am trying to trace the birth of Moses Mew.

He was married in Marden Kent 18 Oct 1790
and died in Marden 2 June 1816.

His wife was Elizabeth Barden and their children were Thomas, Lucy and Michael with possibly others.

Any leads will be greatfully received.

Kind Regards

David Mew
