Tyrone / O'Neill Family of Farhills, Tyrone
« on: Friday 15 November 19 03:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have Mary O'Neill, c1764-1854 and John O'Neill c1774-1833 - both stated as having lived at Farhills, and both dying at the home of their nephew Francis O'Neill, a linen merchant of Mount Pleasant - this information was printed in The Belfast Newsletter. I believe there was another brother Henry O'Neill of Claudy, who was the father of the above named Francis - and that he was dead before 1832.
I'm unable to find Farhills on the map, and wonder if anyone can help - or indeed if anyone has any information about this family.
Thanks

Thanks, that’s very helpful - though also makes search more complicated!

Hi, trying to find information about Sophia Anderson, born around 1861 in Denmark. She emigrated to New Zealand around 1892, and according to her marriage record her parents were Peter/Peder Anderson, a farmer, and Annie Olsen. I haven’t been able to find any records prior to her marriage in 1894 to Thomas Henry Ashton.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Liz

Thank you for your reply. I checked out the link but sadly there were no Whites on it - perhaps the gravestone is too badly weathered and now illegible.

Further to my posting on this family I am still looking! The only new thing I have found is possible baptism record for Mary, daughter of James and Elenor,  on 4 December 1796 at St. Mary's (Pro-Cathedral), Dublin City, where one of the sponsors is William Forward Mitchell - perhaps a brother of James St Leger Mitchell? However I haven't managed to find any other mention of this William and wonder if anyone else has?
Thanks

Hi, I am trying to find information relating to the first wife and parents of Thomas White , (c1784-1857) who was a wealthy Catholic merchant in the Waterside, Derry.  In the 1886 will of Dr Barnewall Peter White, his eldest son, he stipulates that the gravestone over the graves of his mother Sarah and his paternal grandparents (I think Peter and Mary Ann) in Glendermott Church Yard be replaced with a granite slab inscribed with their names, ages and dates, with a simple iron railing round it. His mother died before about 1825 and the grandparents were probably also dead before then.
I am not sure exactly which graveyard this refers to, and also if this grave still exists whether the inscriptions would still be legible? I cant find any reference online and as I live in NZ cant actually do a search myself.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
