Hi ??

It’s your lucky day.

In 2016, I was part of a group who were approached by an old lady who previously worked in OSBORNE’s shop in Bridgnorth. She was interested in their family history.

I still have on file;

15 photographs of memorial headstones (although some are duplicated and a close up view) including the people you mention. There are only 5 OSBORNE’S buried in the Municipal Cemetery plus some connected CHAMBERS family.

9 newspaper articles about their shop and events.
7 Probate details.
A dozen or miscellaneous articles.
A relatively small family tree showing approx. 33 descendants of William OSBORNE and Eliabeth, the parents of Joseph.

I’m under pressure to complete two other Bridgnorth family trees I’m working on. However, during the next week I’ll review all the above and let you have it all. There were also over 80 emails involved.

Regards,
Gwynne Chadwick

Hi David,

I'm pleased that you found the information that I researched and posted for you on the SFHS Message Forum useful.

I assume you received the tithe map and location plan that I subsequently  emailed you.

Hi Neil,
It’s taken four months but at last I’ve obtained copies of the newspaper articles that mention the deaths / funerals of your CARTER ancestors.

Issue dated 2nd January 1904. The death and funeral of Elizabeth Woodhouse CARTER.
Issue dated 19th May 1906. The death and funeral of William CARTER.

Hi,
Shropshire Family History Society has an online database of many Monumental Inscriptions throughout Shropshire.
There are two BLUD listed (given names aren't listed) both at Saint Andrews, Shifnal. Transcripts are available from the Society for a few pounds.
If you didn't know about the burial that Rosie provided, do you know about the four others in Shifnal that Find my Past list ?

Hi Neil,
It seems the poor quality of the previous image was of my own making. I now realize I have the originals for the whole of Bridgnorth. The house of your ancestors ‘The Cedars’ in Oldbury Terrace is clearly shown below.
Also see two pages from an 1886  Almanack. Mr W Carter is shown as being on the committee of the Charitable Relief Society and as an Assistant Overseer.

Hi Neil,

You asked “Does anyone know exactly which property at Oldbury Terrace this might be?”

On the attached modern County Council map the house at the western end of Oldbury Terrace is identified today as ‘Bendor’ (adjoining Hilly Bank lane)

I have a very poor quality photograph of an Ordnance Survey map for that same area. Although not very clear, I think the same house was called ‘The Cedars.
