Hi. thanks for your reply. I am in Aberdeenshire.  I also know the cousin who has done extensive research on the Peters side of the family.  I will look out some of the Irish information for you when I can.

Thanks for your message.  Where about are you situated?  I know a lot of the family went to Canada and Australia.  I am in Scotland.

Finding Irish information is quite tricky.  I will look out what I have found and get back to you.

Thanks for the web address Rosie.

My cousin says that she tried the website and she found the entry in the London Gazette & the Edinburgh Gazette but not the article/photo.

Midlothian / Edinburgh Gazette Article, 1918
« on: Wednesday 24 March 10 15:58 GMT (UK)  »
My cousin is looking for an article that may have been in the Edinburgh Gazette roughly 18 March 1918.  It may also have been in the London Gazette around that time too.

The article is about Robert (Bert) Forsyth Brow and the battle of Cambrai in 1917.

Can anyone advise me on how she could access this?  Would it be best to try the library in Edinburgh?

Thanks.

World War One / Edinburgh newspaper article battle of Cambrai

Hi I am looking for help in finding a newspaper article & photo of a relative, Robert (Bert) Forsyth Brow.

My cousin tells me that there was an article & photo in an Edinburgh newspaper roughly around 18 March 1918.  It was possibly in other newspapers around that time too. We think the article is about the battle of Cambrai, 1917.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks.

Ireland / Barbara Drennan George Rutherford
« on: Thursday 12 March 09 15:35 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any information on Barbara Drennan (Drynan).

She married George Rutherford (b 1816 Manorhamilton Leitrim) and had children George Rutherford & James Rutherford in Ireland. George snr & the boys moved to Greenock, Scotland in 1840's and he married Sarah Scoffield in 1848 in Greenock.  On James & George's marriage certificates in 1860's their mum Barbara is recorded as deceased.

Any information would be much appreciated.
