Thankyou both for your help.

I bought the Medal card that you referenced.  It has very little information on it other than the name regiment and a reference to the Victory Medal with Roll no
A/103B9 Page 1560

Then underneath along the British medal is written "do." which I think means ditto

Is there a way to obtain any more information than this that you know of?

thanks again!

I have been told that Maurice Twomey fought for the British Army in WW1.  He was born and lived in Cork Ireland in 1877.

Any information validating this would be great

thanks!

Actually I only have the date and location.  If you have witnesses and church name that would be great to have

thanks Andrea

Thankyou

I had a look on the IGI and I also cannot find any other baptisms for this pair OR a marriage.  There is an Edward Jarvis that married a Martha Fryland in Chatham 1782 but nothing else close.

Do you have any ideas on how I can chase down more information on Edward?  I cant find him on the early census :(

Cheers

Matt

I started getting into this and it all ties together nicely.  The 1841 census does have him living with his Grandparents and funnily enough has him living next door to his future wife.  I already had George Croucher marrying Harriett Upton in 1843!

I can only imagine he changed his name back after George Gumbrell (essentially the man that is likely to have raised him) died

Exciting Stuff - Thanks again!

Hi

I have a George Croucher born in Cuckfield in 1819.  I am trying to confirm the parents names as I cant seem to find him with his family in the 1841 census.

If anyone has any Baptism information that would be great.   I think his mother maybe called Phebe Colman

Thanks
