I have just discovered my ggg grand parents where from Newry.  They were James Cummings 1834 and his wife Ann 1832.  I found them on the 1871 census living in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.  I don't know if they married in Ireland or England, all their children where born in England.
Any info;, births, marriage ect. would be great.

yours hopefully

I'm the great great great grand daughter of Elizabeth Owen 1799 from Amlwch.  She married James Potter 1793 a copper smelter from St.Helens, Lancashire.  I haven't been able to find who Elizabeths parents were.  I know Elizabeth and James married at St.Eleths church, Amlwch in January 1821.  As you say there are so many possibles.

Merionethshire / Help please
« on: Friday 11 March 11 20:18 GMT (UK)  »
I hope someone  can help me.

My Taid, John William Hughes and his first wife, Annie Carney (not my Nain) had two children, Richard Burnett 1897, & John William 1899.  On the 1901 census John (Taid) is living in Bala with son Richard.  John is living with Gwen Jones and family.  The census says she is his aunt.  On earlier census I found Gwen Jones was formaly Davies, she married Thomas Jones.  My problem is I can't make the connection to my family.  Also my G.grand parents were Richard Hughes and Margaret Jones, maybe Thomas Jones was Margarets brother, but I havn't found the link.  I know its a long shot, I hope someone can help.

Hi Herblady
My Great Grand father Griffith Evans 1851 was a shoe maker in Brithdir, his second wife was Margaret Pugh, I wondered if she could be connected to your Pugh's.  I know Pugh is a common name and its a bit of a long shot.

Hi

Thank you for your reply.  Yes that is him, I have found them on the 1901 & 1911 census.  I have found Jane his wife on earlier census but not James.

His father was James not sure about his mother, possibly Alice.

kind regards

Scotland / Trying to find James Cummings
« on: Friday 19 November 10 19:40 GMT (UK)  »
I have been struggling for some time with this.  I can't find James Cummings 1864 on any census before 1901.   I know he was married to Jane Birch in Birkenhead, Cheshire.  The 1901 census states he was born there but it has been suggested he may have been born in Scotland.
I hope someone can help.  Thank you
