Dear Geoff

Yes please, that would be great - any other photos etc would be very welcome. I've emailed Rob but we haven't emailed for 4 years or so  - i'll let you know what the outcome is.

William

Hi Geoff

I am not descended from the Turners. However Robert Currie, who responded to my original post, is their grandson. Marian Elizabeth Turner (ne้ Brown) is my great grandfather's sister. We had a photo of her family in our possession and I was doing some detective work to see where she had ended up. Rob Currie happily obliged and filled in the missing pieces.

I've attached the photo we have of the Turners and also a picture of Marian and Charles' (my g grandfather) parents, John James Brown and Marian Lovell

Kind regards

William

Hello Geoff

I do keep an eye on things - four years has gone quickly! Thanks for the info. I hadn't done much with the Turners recently, and the only source I had for John William Turner's wife was the 1901 census, which lists her as 'Ann E'.

Kind regards

William

Occupation Interests / Government Viewer
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 10:43 GMT (UK)  »
What is government viewer? It is my great grandfather's occupation as listed on my grandparents' 1942 marriage certificate. He had previously been a painter in the Royal Navy during WW1, then a signwriter. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

William

Many thanks for that -

As I have said before, in the 1891 England census his mother is listed as Ann E so it is likely that the 1st person you mentioned is the Turner I want, as his father was a John William.

Both the place where the children were born and the place where he died are now suburbs of Sydney, so they're not too far away from each other either.

Many thanks once again

William

Wow -

I wasn't expecting any replies for a while so many thanks!

As far as I am aware, my Marian Elizabeth's mother was called Maria, but I don't have a full birth certificate for her at the moment so that is something I would need to check. Marian Elizabeth's mother died in 1890 so doesn't appear on the 1891 England census and I haven't yet located the family in 1881 census.

As for John Conrad TURNER, his father is given as John William TURNER on the marriage certificate, and his mother's name is Ann E (TURNER), on the 1891 England census.

Many thanks for your prompt response

William
