Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Looking for Robert Bullen's mum of Walmer, Deal Kent
« on: Tuesday 19 July 11 02:29 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Sam8364, yes I think you are right and I had the wrong mum name and this Cashewnut site has Robert's mum and other info that is correct. I think they did originate in Beddingham and moved down to Deal. Robert is buried there and I wrote to the cemetery and they found him in a plot on his own (surprisingly).

Thank you AJ100 he did marry Jane Mears so this is the guy. Thanks so much for your reply and info.

Deal Librarian - I feel like I know you as of the week I spent in England, 3 days I spent sitting in the Deal Library transcribing copious amounts of info from your registries. Ta so much for your reply

Regards from a beautiful sunny Winter day in Perth, Australia.

Thank you all again. I have a full subscription to ancestry.com and I thought the 1911 census that is up was the complete one...I will have to have a look at my subscription to see what I need to purchase to add the full data to my account.
I will have a look at suggestions. Thanks again - much, much appreciated for your kindness and help.

Wow - all in a few hours...Thank you all so very much for your time and know-how.

So Charles S Bullen (1877 - ) married Mary F Lynch (abt 1877 – 1911) in
In 1881 he was 68 Yew Tree Road, Walton-On-Hill, Lancashire
1891 with parents at 27 Erskine St. West Derby, Lancashire,
In March 1901 with parents at 50 Eastbourne St., Everton, Lancashire, as a Surgical Instrument Maker
In Sept 1902 he married Mary F Lynch (abt 1877 – 1911) in Lancashire.
They have:
Joseph Henry Bullen in 1903
Francis Joseph Bullen in 1911
By 1911 he was widowed and living in 93 mount Pleasant, Liverpool with 4 males and 5 females, still as a Truss Surgical Instrument and Artifical Limb Manufactr.

Km1971
Where did you find that Charles S Bullen in 1938, he was still truss surgical instrument and artifical limb manufctr. 93 Mount Pleasant?

KGarrad
Where did you see that he is a widower? I saw the brief 1911 census and the one I saw says 4 males and 5 females living in house….how did you get more info…is there another 1911 source I should be looking at…I was just going via the Ancestry Census list that says 1911 England Census Summary Books

For anyone interested, these are the copies of our photos on below site but unable to contact person who loaded. Lil, Sylvie, Jo etc are names we know but can’t work out where they go.

So I will look on Genes to see if I can see if I can find any other children of Charles S Bullen and wife Mary between 1903 and 1911. I think there are another 3 or 4 in there to find but obviously can’t use England census info. I will go through Bullen births on the fantastic Lancashire BMD listed – thanks for that link.
So many thanks,
Marie

Lancashire / Charles Sylvester Bullen abt 1877 Liverpool
« on: Tuesday 11 January 11 07:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I am trying to help a friend find out about her Grt Grandfather's family.
Charles Sylvester Bullen born we think about 1877 Liverpool. Had half dozen children but we can find no record of his wife. We think he founded some sort of health care company Stomacare?
Found some old photos on the web (that we already had originals of - with nothing on the back of them). He seems very well to do in the pics - though wife is nowhere to be seen in many photos.
I am mystified why I can find no family trees, and nothing on web except for Stomacare info. if family so large and he obviously well known in area.
Son Joseph Henry Bullen is the line, with Lil, Sylvie, another Jo as siblings.
Tried Free BMD and Family Search and Ancestry searches will little result.
Thanks for anyone that can steer me where to look.

Sharon, thanks so much for this. May I check with you on the process as I am obviously doing something wrong.

So I am going to this link http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start and then typing in
First name: Ann
Last name: Bushell
Event: Birth/Christening
Year 1907
Location: Ash - got nothing. Staple - got nothing. England - 13 hits not the one above.

Am I using the wrong site perhaps? As I still couldn't find what you found so quickly.
Appreciate your advice. Regards, Marie

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Birth of Ann Bushell birth Ash n Staple 1807
« on: Wednesday 17 November 10 07:03 GMT (UK)  »
I am stumped with an Ann Bushell born I thought 21 Feb 1807 in Ash near Staple, Kent.
She married William Port St. Nicholas, Ash next Sandwich, Kent 13 Oct 1831.
Have found them in the 1841, 51, 61, 71, census living in Woodnesborough.
She died 4 May 1873 aged 66 in Woodnesborough.

But I cannot find a birth for her in any free BMD records.

I really am after it to find her father's name which I thought was Peter but now think is John or Peter.
Thanks fo rany help that can be provided.

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Death in Deal, Kent of Harriet Port 1920?
« on: Wednesday 17 November 10 02:49 GMT (UK)  »
How kind! I will! I am accompanying a friend to the World Thalidomide conference in London to help her with her children and then my then 6yo to Deal for a week or more and basically going to just do family history stuff in Deal, go to the library and as many churches and graves as I can  and visit the towns listed so often in my family tree...Ash, Eastry, Sandwich, Sholden, Walmer, Sandhills etc. So would love to have a catchup and coffee. I was going to see if there were any family history groups who might be on while I am there or schedule my trip for around then. Regards and thanks, Marie
