US Lookup Requests / Frank AYERS or MANSELL
« on: Sunday 26 February 06 21:10 GMT (UK)  »
This is a long shot, but could some kind soul do a migrant check on:

Frank AYERS or Frank MANSELL, born in Hereford, Herefordshire, England in 1876 but living in Mountain Ash, Glamorganshire, Wales in 1891.  Born as MANSELL but mother subsequently married and it is believed Frank took the name AYERS.

If no migrant check, perhaps there is a possibility in 1900 or 1910 US census.

Any help, even a "no trace", greatly appreciated.

There is no IGI index reference for Upper Denton, Cumberland, so this entry may be of relevance:

Philip BELL
Christening 15 June 1817
Haltwhistle, Northumberland
Father: Thomas BELL
Mother: Mary
Batch No: P002851

But with a name like Bell, and 26 christenings of children born to Thomas and Mary Bell within 20 years, this may be a red herring.

I think this one might be tougher than last month's...

And this may be Philip's demise:

SEPTEMBER 1895:
BELL  Philip  78  Haltwhistle  10b 224

Haltwhistle is a few miles only from Midgeholme: right on the Cumberland/Northumberland border.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841/51 Census - CRUMPTON in Quatt

Thanks Gwynne; could I just confirm with you though that Joyce, who was widowed by 1861, was married to a James?

That confirmation would help enormously as it means I can tie them to a sibling of my direct ancestor.

regards
Steve

Have you also posted this on the Radnorshire board? I believe the village you require is usually presented with Radnorshire rather than Herefordshire.
