This mystery deepens....I guess its what makes genealogy so interesting. I will try to sit down this weekend with all my papers and see if I can tie anything in.

The 1911 Census gives Margaret Mclean's birthplace as Portree and her birth year as circa 1865. I am probably going to pay a researcher again but if anyone has any info or tips they will be gratefully recieved.

(The researcher was unable to find her birth)

The couple in the 1855 marriage appear too old to be Maggie's parents.

I cannot see any reference to Catherine McLean being deceased on Maggie's marriage entry. (attatched)

I do not know anything about her family at all. She was working as a domestic servant in Govan when she married William - he was orginally from Aberdeenshire but had moved to Liverpool as a Police Constable. Nobody in the family knows anything about her....someone thought she was "a farmer's daughter from the Isle of Skye" but that does not tie in with the marriage entry.
Her and William named their children - William(after father ?) , Annie (paternal Grandmother) , Alexander (paternal grandfather), Catherine (maternal grandmother) and Margaret (mother)
I will see if I can get some more info on the marriage you mentioned above - thank you.

I have found the Baptism via an online database but it cost me 30 Euros. The next record I want is on there too but there are several records and it will cost 10 euros each just to look at each  one....can anyone recommend a decent researcher in County Dublin who does not charge the earth ?

Thanks...tried it before. Mine was born in 1849...found the record on a site but they want £10 to look at it...do not mind that if its the right one but would like to know its right first.
Francis Anderson (father John Anderson) born 1849.

Thank you for your help. Going to see if I can get a researcher to check the birth records.
